Major Netflix reality show might be on the chopping block after ratings fail to impress

Temptation Island might be in trouble after the latest Netflix rating drop.

It's only been a few weeks since Temptation Island season 2 premiered on Netflix. We've already see the two-part reunion hosted by The Viall Files' Nick Viall and Natalie Joy, not the best reality host in the game, Mark L. Walberg.

Since the premiere, it's been crickets regarding Temptation Island season 3. We waited a month after season 1 before Netflix renewed the series for season 2, so there's still plenty of time for Netflix to lock in Temptation Island for another season.

The problem is Temptation Island's ratings have not been that great. Temptation Island season 2 racked up 2.6 million views during its first week on Netflix, down about 100,000 from the season 1 premiere in March 2025. The new season slotted in at No. 7 on the weekly Netflix Top 10.

Temptation Island season 2 also failed to make the Netflix Top 10 for the second week after its release. That's not a huge problem, but it's not a great sign either, especially considering Netflix released all nine episodes of the season.

Overall, these are not strong numbers for a Netflix series. They are decent numbers for a Netflix reality series, but it definitely puts Temptation Island on the chopping block for at least the short term. Love is Blind season 10 pulled in about 10 million views in its opening week earlier this year. So, that's basically the gold standard for Netflix shows.

Temptation Island season 3 will probably still happen, but it's going to be close

Thankfully, it's not all bad news for Temptation Island season 3. Overall, the numbers look comparable to Netflix's Age of Attraction, which premiered a month before season 2 on Netflix.

Age of Attraction season 2 was ordered shortly after the first season premiered. Netflix knows it has something similar to Love is Blind on the table.

We don't know the financial logistics of something like this. It can't be great that Age of Attraction, a show that's probably much cheaper for Netflix to produce, is racking up better numbers and getting more buzz than Temptation Island.

Still, Temptation Island is a known property. Viewership didn't necessarily grow from seasons 1 to 2, which is what Netflix would love to see with a show like this, but viewership didn't drop either.

From what I can tell, Temptation Island seems like it fills a void on Netflix's reality schedule with Too Hot to Handle seemingly sidelined.

If I were to bet, I would anticipate that Temptation Island season 3 will get picked up for another season, but I would not be surprised if Netflix finally pulls the plug on this show. After bouncing around from FOX to USA to Netflix, it's hard to imagine the show suddenly becoming a bigger hit when we've seen two seasons perform, roughly, the same on the streaming service.

We'll let you know more news about the future of Temptation Island on Netflix. Stay tuned!
