Temptation Island season 3 needs to fix one major mistake Netflix keeps making

We're already ready for Temptation Island season 3 with a slight tweak to the release schedule.

Remember the days of watching new episodes of Temptation Island weekly? Those were the good days.

Temptation Island season 2 is off to a solid start on Netflix after its release on Friday, April 10. Just like the streamer did for season 1, all episodes of Temptation Island season 2 are now streaming on Netflix. You can find out right now what happens with all four couples on season 2 right now if you want, and that's the problem.

Look, I love this show. It's one of the messiest reality TV shows on right now, but it would be a whole lot better if fans could experience it all together, more slowly, than the binge release.

We're still waiting for Netflix to renew Temptation Island for season 3, but hopefully, that renewal happens soon, and Netflix tweaks the release model for the next season.

Netflix needs to release Temptation Island in batches like Love is Blind and Age of Attraction

While most scripted Netflix shows are released at once or in two parts, Netflix's reality shows have been released in batches spread over three or four weeks for several years.

Love is Blind is the most popular of Netflix's reality shows, but more recently, Netflix rolled out the three-week release for Age of Attraction, an eight-episode series. It worked perfectly for that series.

Age of Attraction is the perfect example. Almost 4 million viewers tuned in for the first five episodes of the series in its first week on Netflix. More than 3 million viewers watched the sixth and seventh episodes in its second week on Netflix. During its first three weeks on Netflix, the series was in the Netflix Top 10 the whole time.

It’s still early for Temptation Island season 2, but I’m starting to get a little skeptical about the show continuing to remain in the Netflix Top 10 for three full weeks after its release.

Most importantly, though, the staggered releases allow more fans to watch and participate in the discourse at the same time. Forcing fans to wait a week between batches gives them time to react and speculate about what’s happening. It gives them time to tell their friends about the new series and spread the word.

When all nine episodes are available at the same time, there’s nothing to build anticipation for fans. Sure, they can still spread the word, but they can also binge-watch all nine episodes and forget about it. Leaving viewers hanging to want more is a good thing in cases like this.

Now, I’m not advocating for weekly episodes, dragging the season out for two or three months. That wouldn’t work nearly as well for Netflix. All I’m saying is there’s definitely room for Netflix to get a little bit more creative with Temptation Island. The season needs to be crafted in a way that encourages it, but the multi-part release seems to be the best way to do that.
