ABC fans are in for a treat when It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17 premieres this July on FXX. You might be wondering why in the world a show on another Disney-owned network would be of any interest to you. Well, there's two main reasons!
As many Abbott Elementary fans know by now, the comedy brought us a wonderful crossover episode in season 4 episode 9, "Volunteers," between the school-centric sitcom and Sunny. When the much more mature comedy series returns, its premiere episode will be the second half of the Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover. So be sure to tune in on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 on FXX, or the next day when it streams on Hulu.
The trailer for the new season recently dropped, and it also teased another surprising and unexpected crossover with an ABC show we were not expecting! Get ready to see It's Always Sunny on The Golden Bachelor as well. So this obviously isn't going to be an official Golden Bachelor season. But Sunny character Frank Reynolds, played by Danny Devito, is seen being the man of choice with host Jesse Palmer trying to help him find the one. Check it all out in the trailer below!
The two are on the official stage as Frank sees the women driving up. One of them being a parody of Hailey Welch, aka the Hawk Tuah Girl who went viral on TikTok in 2024. I'm not going to get into the details as to why she went viral here. You can go ahead and search that for yourself. I love how jam-packed and ambitious the season seems to be, it's all very exciting.
Is Frank really going to be able to find love on The Golden Bachelor? Honestly, probably not. No one is ever good enough for the gang and they're just completely unruly. That's why even 17 seasons in, none of them have a true love interest. But with the official Abbott Elementary crossover and this more unofficial one with the ABC dating reality series, it's great to see how the series can still surprise us after all these years. I'm also looking forward to how Palmer is going to react to Frank's very crude shenanigans. It's going to be hilarious!
While the next Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny crossover episode is slated for July 9, it's not known yet when we'll see the The Golden Bachelor episode in season 17, which will be a total of eight episodes. So be sure to keep an eye out for that announcement because trust me. It's going to be one you don't want to miss.
