The title of the second half of the Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1 finale is titled "Big Decisions," and there's definitely plenty that happened to the Cooper-McAllister family. Not only were there big decisions made, but big changes as well that will leads us into season 2 and what's to come. Even though the season just finished, we're already looking ahead.
Mandy has accepted a new full-time job at the news station where her ex-boyfriend Scott is her boss. She's been working with him for months and didn't tell Georgie, and it's clear Scott still has feelings for her. It's also been teased that he'll be back in some capacity in the second season.
Then there's Georgie who gets (rightfully) stressed when Jim decides to sell the tire shop and retire. He does all he can to get his hands on enough money to buy it from him once he sees that his father-in-law is serious about doing it. This leads to Mary putting up her house as collateral, and Ruben stepping in to be his partner in the business.

More conflict is coming in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 2
While this is a solution for now, we know that the two characters don't like each other. Or rather, Ruben doesn't like Georgie. So where do they go from here? In an interview with The Wrap, executive producer Stephen Holland teased that the duo working together will make for "fun opportunities for conflict." Check out what he had to say below:
"I think they’re both getting into this thing over their heads. I think Georgie is brash and full of confidence, but he’s never run a big business before, and he and Ruben don’t always get along. Ruben probably feels, rightly, [that] he should be the senior partner. He makes the joke about it in the finale, but he’s got more experience. He’s working on his degree and he doesn’t take Georgie very seriously, so I think there’s going to be a lot of fun opportunities for conflict there."
I'll be honest, I haven't been a fan of Ruben from the start and he was such a background character that this feels a little bit of a weird direction to take the story. I do understand that Georgie is younger, but he works hard for what he has and doesn't take it for granted. And it's annoying that Ruben still doesn't see that. Though Holland is correct about something, their dynamic can make for some hilarious moments. I just hope Ruben becomes less annoying as a character. Sorry not sorry.

As I mentioned in this post here, Ruben is one of the characters that I felt like weren't developed very well. I don't have an emotional attachment to him as a viewer. I guess this is the opportunity for the writers to do so and give him more in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 2, which will return in fall 2025 on CBS.
Plus, it's not just going to be conflict for Georgie at work. There's definitely going to be more conflict and challenges he and Mandy have to get through as well which won't be as fun. She's broken his trust, he went and bought the business without getting her approval, they're in more debt, the two are still living in the McAllister house, and the fact that both have increased responsibilities at work now means time away from each other. There's certainly more conflict coming. Some of it fun, and some of it not. It will be interesting to see where the story goes!
Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 2 will premiere Thursdays in fall 2025 on CBS.
