The season 1 finale of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 brought with it many plot twists and establishes some of the hardships to come for the young couple in season 2. One of those is the fact that Georgie has now purchased the tire shop from his father-in-law Jim, co-owning it with Ruben. Though this will make for some “fun conflict” as co-creator Steve Holland put it, there could be a chance that the monetary concern and them not getting along won't be their only problem.

It could be antagonist Fred Fagenbacher, played by actor Matt Letscher, who wanted to buy the tire shop in the first place. In the finale, he was the one wanting to buy Jim out. One reason being he wanted to take out the competition. The second, Fred and Jim have had beef ever since Audrey chose to be with her husband back when they were all in high school. And so, that rejection may see him hold a grudge against Georgie and Ruben, as was also teased in the finale. So will we see the character back?

Per TVLine, Holland shared that “it’d be lovely to have him back,” though did not give a definitive answer as to whether that will actually be the case. This could have to do with scheduling conflicts for the actor, the writers not finding it necessary to bring back the character, or both. However it does sound like according to Holland that there is room in the story for him to appear, so we’ll see how it all plays out. He went on to tell the news outlet that it “would be nice to have an antagonist [for Georgie and Ruben] to butt up against.”

We agree! The character is quite annoying, I’m not going to lie. Though now that Ruben is more a part of the story, which I’m personally not a fan of, it’s going to get old pretty fast to just have the work conflict at the shop be between Georgie and Ruben. Perhaps working together and both of them having money on the line now - and Mary’s house - will force them to learn how to work with each other successfully. But that’s easier said than done. It’s much easier for two peole who don’t like each other to still team up against a mutual enemy. And Fred can definitely be that person for them.

Another character and actor the series hopes to bring back in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 is Chris Gorham as Mandy’s boss at the news station, Scott. The actor has landed a leading role on Sheriff Country. So that project is going to be his priority, as it should be. We’re a little nervous about whether this will happen. Plus, Holland previously shared there’s no plans to recast the character.

Honestly if they aren’t able to get him back, it’s going to feel sort of silly introducing that whole Mandy not telling Georgie about her boss being her ex-boyfriend thing. It will feel like it was done just for dramatic purposes for the finale instead of a storyline that gets Georgie and Mandy to the root of their problems. Or, perhaps not based on the fact they are destined to not end up together. At least not at first.

Again, this will have to be something that the writers and producers figure out, and hopefully everything works out. I’m most intrigued about what Jim’s role and storyline will look like now that he’s not at work anymore and has retired. What will he do all day? That’s for us to figure out when the second season arrives this fall 2025 on CBS!
