ABC hasn't held back when it has come to the 911 franchise over the course of the past year. From kicking off the flagship show's ninth season to launching highly-anticipated spinoff 911: Nashville, it's been a fascinating time to be a fan of the long-running Ryan Murphy-produced franchise.
Speaking of which, it's Thursday evening once again, which naturally has fans wondering if there will be a new episode of 911 and 911: Nashville on tonight. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is a resounding: No. Both shows are currently off the air due to ABC's decision to avoid competition with the Winter Olympics, which is currently airing on NBC. As a result of that, both 911 shows and Thursday night companion Grey's Anatomy are on hiatus. This is impacting other nights of the schedule too, with breakout hit High Potential off for the foreseeable as well.
ABC will be airing reruns instead, as 911's previous episode will air in the show's regular slot, while the two most recent episodes of 911: Nashville will air across the next two hours. And, honestly, this is a good opportunity to revisit those episodes of each respective show, because the 911 returns aren't too far away.
911 and 911: Nashville return next week
911 season 9 episode 11 airs on ABC next Thursday, February 26, in the show's typical timeslot of 8/7c. Titled "Going Once, Going Twice", it is set to focus on Eddie and Christopher as the two find themselves facing a personal crisis. Meanwhile, Hen and Karen will find themselves in their own situation - one which is described as being "high-stakes" and "dangerous".
After that, a brand new episode of 911: Nashville (season 1 episode 11) will air in its usual 9/8c timeslot. Titled "Don Begins", it will tell us the origin story of Chris O'Donnell's Captain Don Hart, showing us how he came to be the man that is loved and respected by so many at the 113 today.

We're coming up on another big era for the franchise as both shows are set to stage a crossover pretty soon, with the original series' fan-favorite duo of the 118's Buck and Eddie crossing paths with the 113, likely sharing scenes with Ryan and Blue in the process. You can bet that fans will be very happy about that.
911: Nashville has quickly proven itself a strong part of ABC's line-up, overcoming some early teething issues to thrill and entertain audiences in the same way that its parent series does. Now, it's looking likely that it will earn a second-season renewal - especially after its midseason premiere posted the best overall numbers for the spinoff yet.

Meanwhile, 911 season 9 has generated a lot of buzz this season and that comes as no surprise. From the exit of Peter Krause's Captain Bobby Nash in the previous season to the teasers for that infamous space storyline (that resulted in all types of reactions across social media), people have been talking about the show in a way that other decade-old franchises could only dream of. And the viewers were sure to tune in to see Athena Grant in space in the first half of the season, and all the repercussions that have still lingered from that storyline in the second half.
After returning from its midseason break, 911 has found itself on another hiatus. The good news is that we don't have to wait too much longer for it to return to our screens.
