It's time for a new team of firefighters to heat things up on ABC. The broadcast network is officially expanding its 911 universe through the creation of new spinoff 911: Nashville and it has now confirmed when we can tune into it. Better yet, it will be paired with its parent series, meaning that we will get double 911 on ABC going forward.
In announcing its official fall 2025 TV schedule, ABC confirmed that 911: Nashville will air on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m., immediately following the mothership series, which holds onto its 8:00 p.m. timeslot, where it has proven to be a force for the network. Both shows will then be followed by a new episode of Grey's Anatomy in the 10:00 p.m. timeslot.
In looking at that, Thursdays will remain mostly unchanged from their current incarnation, with the only difference being that 911: Nashville replaces a different Ryan Murphy show on the schedule (Doctor Odyssey, which the network hasn't made a decision on yet).
First 911: Nashville teaser trailer promises a "Ring of Fire"
ABC has also released the first teaser trailer for 911: Nashville to go along with the timeslot announcement, which you can watch below. We'll warn you though; it's fiery!
Although the teaser trailer doesn't feature any footage from the show, it leans heavily into the Nashville setting, offering up a guitar in flames. It's also very cinematic, spotlighting its star-studded cast with some fancy credits and reminding us all that Ryan Murphy is "expanding the 911 universe" as it confirms that Thursday at 9:00 p.m. timeslot. It all unfolds against the classic country song "Ring of Fire".
For the record, "star-studded" isn't just a figure of speech either, as the show features NCIS veteran (and Robin himself!) Chris O'Donnell in the lead role, alongside Grey's Anatomy star Jessica Capshaw, music superstar LeAnn Rimes, and TV veteran Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
This is in line with the franchise's history of casting bigger names to lead the shows (while normally rounding the cast out with younger stars). Peter Krause and Angela Bassett led the original series while Owen Wilson and Liv Tyler were the faces of previous spinoff 911: Lone Star (with Gina Torres stepping in as a new lead when Tyler departed the show after its first season).
Speaking of Lone Star, ABC's current schedule allows for potential crossovers between 911 and 911: Nashville, much like FOX used to do when 911 and 911: Lone Star were both a part of its line-up. That worked out well for FOX before it moved on from both shows (which resulted in Lone Star ending after five seasons) so the potential is there for ABC to recreate that success here. This is something that President of Disney Television Group Craig Erwich spoke about, revealing to the press that "it’s an incredible opportunity that I’m sure at some point we'll figure out how to capitalize on".
For now, though, we're just excited at the prospect of a double dose of 911 on Thursday nights!
