The 911 fans still haven't recovered from the death of Bobby Nash and they probably never will. The beloved fire captain of the 118 was, in many ways, the main character on the show as everything that happened on it essentially took place through his eyes. He was the heart and soul of 911 and it's hard to imagine a show like this even existing without him.
From his beloved relationship with Sergeant Athena Grant-Nash to the countless times he has been there to comfort his firefighter family, Bobby was what 911 was all about. How does any viewer ever hope to enjoy the show again now that we're watching it through a lens that he simply isn't on the other end of.
That's a question that one of the show's main stars is pondering too, and she doesn't want the fans to lose faith as they ponder alongside her.
Angela Bassett is hopeful she'll work with Peter Krause on 911 again
911 star Angela Bassett simply wasn't ready for the unexpected death of Bobby Nash on the show and she too is feeling the absence of Peter Krause's beloved character already. Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine at the Met Gala, she said that it wasn't her choice to kill the character off, adding that she was in mourning:
"I'm in mourning... I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. It wasn't my choice. I don't know."
Being that Bassett is both the series lead and executive producer of the 911 TV universe, it says a lot that she was stunned by the developments on the show. Playing Bobby's wife Athena, she worked with him probably more than anyone else, so you can imagine how big of an impact Bobby's death will have on her scenes.
But Bassett is remaining hopeful that she will get to work with Peter Krause on the show again in some capacity, offering some words of encouragement to the fans who are still devastated by the creative choice.
"Keep hope alive. Maybe he'll return in my dreams, you know, my memories."

The idea of seeing Krause's Bobby appear in Athena's dreams or via flashbacks would certainly be welcomed by fans. As the show heads into its first full season without him at the center of it, viewers would welcome any opportunity to see Bobby again in any capacity. Needless to say, it wouldn't be the same as seeing the fire captain of the 118 show up on a regular basis like he has done for so many years prior to season 9, but it would be something to keep the character alive, in a sense, on the show.
Even after Bobby's death aired in the fifteenth episode of the eighth season, fans remained hopeful that the show would surprise them with his inevitable return. After all, 911 has done some pretty outlandish things in the past, so this would be relatively easy to buy. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be as, two weeks later, the character's funeral episode aired, giving him an official send-off from the 118. Peter Krause has also left the show as a series regular (although it wasn't his choice to leave as the showrunner Tim Minear made the decision to kill Bobby off - a decision that has left fans highly outraged).
Bobby's death came in the midst of a two-episode event in the third quarter of the season, so to say that it caught them off-guard would be a major understatement. Within seconds, it was all over social media as fans shared their reactions. Everything was chaotic that night, but there was one constant: Sadness from the viewers.
