If you're a fan of new CBS series Watson and were dreading the long wait of the second season's 2026 release, then we have great news for you! There's been changes made to the network's fall 2025 schedule, including moving up the premiere of Watson season 2 way earlier than originally planned. Hooray!

According to a press release of the network's upcoming fall schedule, Watson season 2 will now premiere in the fall on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025 in the 10 p.m. ET time slot on CBS. The series takes the place of the all-new FBI spin-off, CIA, starring Tom Ellis which previously held the spot in the schedule.

Initially the show's second season was slated for a midseason premiere since there was "a lack of room on the schedule," according to CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach back in May. Though due to delays in the production of the series, like scripts not being finished and casting not complete yet, as well as a change in showrunners, there's been quite a few set back which have led CBS to push CIA to the midseason schedule instead, per Deadline. It's likely the new project will premiere sometime in January 2026.

While I'm personally really looking forward to the FBI spin-off as a fan of the franchise and Lucifer actor, Ellis, I am excited that Watson season 2 is going to air earlier than anticipated! The medical drama's first season premiered in January 2025, and was part of this year's midseason schedule. Usually, projects that air at that time are supposed to return in the fall. However, at first CBS put CIA ahead of it and prioritized that instead. I'm glad to see things are on track to what's more in the norm for the broadcast world.

Watson season 2 will join The Neighborhood season 8, which is the final season, new comedy DMV, and FBI season 8 on Monday evenings. The Morris Chestnut production will be closing out the night. So there's plenty to look forward to watching, that's for sure! This is truly exciting news and a change I'm definitely welcoming as a fan of the show. It wasn't fair that it got delayed so much, putting the season 2 release a year after season 1 had premiered. This is network television, not streaming. The countdown to the second season is not long now!
