We've made it: After three weeks of thrills, lies, and deceit, The Traitors season 4 is set to bow out with its finale. Claudia Winkleman will bring us back to Ardross Castle one more time as the Faithful prepare to banish one last player before the Grand Final begins. And it comes off the back of the most shocking cliffhanger in the show's history.
With Traitor Rachel and Faithful James both having split the Roundtable banishment vote, their fates were left up to chance. As a result, the person who gets to remain in the competition would be the one who picks the chest with a Shield in it. The penultimate episode didn't reveal who ended up where as it cut to the credits, setting the stage for what can only be an edge-of-seat final.
Can Rachel or Stephen do it? Who will ultimately win it all? And who are the final few to be banished? Join us as we recap the show one more time!!
The banishment that rocks the Roundtable
Fresh off the previous episode's major cliffhanger, Rachel and James open their respective chests to determine their fates. Rachel obtained the shield, meaning that James was banished. He then revealed that he was a Faithful all along, sending the remaining finalists into silence.
Jack takes James' banishment really personal; he's upset that he changed his vote when he was genuinely a Faithful. Stephen comforts him at first, while Jade does the same. Meanwhile, Rachel and Stephen reconnect in the Turret. Rachel acknowledges that she is on the ropes and is willing to do whatever Stephen thinks, but the duo are starting to doubt each other. They want to win it together, but they are willing to win it separately.
After Claudia introduces them to the next challenge, each Traitor begins their campaign - with Stephen suggesting Rachel might be a Traitor and Rachel suggesting Jade and Stephen might be the Traitors. However, the two of them reunite and Rachel is (mostly) upfront about her recent actions.
Rolling on the river
The final mission is worth £10000. They ahve 45 minutes to cross the lough in speedboats to gather the money. Green flares will signal the gold's location but if the flare turns red, they lose it. They must then bring the gold to Claudia. And when they do, they will get a helicopter ride home.
When the gang - split into two boats - arrived at Claudia's location, they had to climb a dam and run towards her, with minutes to spare. They succeeded by adding £9000 to the prize fund. But they had a chance to add another £10,000 to it - only they had to run down the dam towards the helicopter.
It was a challenge for all of them, with plenty of struggles along the way, but they all pulled it off - making it to the helicopter and having a heck of a spin in the helicopter as they head back to the castle.
The question is: Will the good vibes stick around after the Roundtable?
A second banishment looms
Ahead of the Roundtable, each contestant makes their way around to try and convince each other who they should vote for. There is a lot of heat on Rachel, and it looks like she might be in real trouble. However, Faraaz's new plan to vote Jade out first throws a spanner in the works. And thus, the tension is high as the Final prize fund of £95000 hangs in the balance.
Faraaz immediately says that he will be voting for Jade, which results in Jade suggesting she will vote for him too. Rachel says that she has no back up right now, so if she was a Traitor, she would have had a teammate with her. Stephen also questions Rachel, which creates a really tense moment.
It's time to vote: Rachel votes for Jade, Jack votes for Rachel, Faraaz votes for Jade, leaving only Stephen... who votes for Jade. Jade emotionally departs, heartbroken by Stephen's betrayal.
The Endgame
Tensions mount and pressures build as the Endgame approaches. Stephen and Rachel are seemingly still on the same page; so they have a joint plan to banish Faraaz. Meanwhile, Jack is starting to worry that he can't trust Faraaz. And with that, the Final Four must decide if they wish to banish again or simply go straight to the end.
Faraaz votes to banish again. Rachel also votes to banish again. Jack also votes to banish again. And Stephen also votes to banish again. And with that, they must decide who to banish one more time.
Jack votes to banish Rachel, while Faraaz votes to banish Stephen. However, Rachel and Stephen both vote to banish Faraaz, eliminating him from the competition.
After that, they all choose to banish again. Jack chooses to banish Rachel once more, but Rachel votes to banish him. Again, the casting vote comes down to Stephen. After a tense moment, he again chooses to back Rachel, sending Jack home. And with that, The Traitors have won the show.
In an emotional moment, Rachel and Stephen embrace each other, celebrating the fact that they have become the first joint-Traitors to win the show.
