We are about to kick off the final quarter of BBC One's The Traitors UK, meaning that there are just three episodes of the fourth season left. As I'm sure you can expect, times in the castle are tense as just eight competitors remain - and among them are two Traitors.
Claudia Winkleman made the shocking revelation last week that the Traitors would have the choice to give one competitor - Faithful or Traitor - a double vote. That includes one of them - which could very well implicate them if they choose themselves. But it could also wrongly implicate someone else, and that could play right into their hand.
We've made it to The Traitors season 4 episode 10 and, with just three episodes left before the Final this Friday, here's everything that goes down in the Wednesday, January 21, episode.
A new day, a new challenge
The players all headed to a nervous breakfast. Although there were no murders the night before, they were a little unsteady based on their recent losses. Stephen and Jade's names are thrown around at breakfast as potential Traitors. Claudia enters and reveals that the Traitors have chosen to give the dagger to James. We flashback to last night as Stephen and Rachel decide not to give themselves the dagger as it would attract attention they don't need. Therefore James is the obvious choice, as they know he will vote against Matt.
James is gleeful at the opportunity, but he doesn't know what to make of this opportunity. Matt tries to appeal to James, asking him why he would have given him the double vote if he knew he was going to vote against him.
Tonight's challenge allows the contenstants to add £12,000 to their prize fund. But they must encounter the CarousHell - a carousel that goes round and round and round, getting faster along the way. Once the spin ends, they must retrieve the gold from stuffed bears. There is also the chance to win a shield, protecting them from murder tonight. The person who arrives back to the carousel late loses a seat, meaning they can't win a shield.
Faraaz lost his seat after the first spin, while Matt lost the second seat. James was particularly happy that Matt lose the seat, as he won't get a shield. After the third spin, Claudia removed two seats. Stephen and Rachel missed those two, meaning that the Traitors never got their shields to keep the façade going. Jack got the last seat, meaning that Roxy and Jade missed out in the end. However, that means Jack has earned a shield, saving himself from murder tonight.
On the way back, Matt reveals that he thinks Stephen and Rachel are actually the Traitors... especially if it isn't Jade. Meanwhile, Faraaz is starting to suspect Rachel as well. He reveals this to Jack, with the two genuinely feeling like they can trust each other. Roxy, on the other hand, needs reassurance from Rachel as to whether she is actually a Faithful or not. Rachel obviously reassures her that she can be trusted, but she's feeling bad about lying to her friend.
Roundtable discussions
Matt opens discussions at the roundtable by pointing the finger at Jade, who has understandably gotten frustrated by the fact that everyone points at her. She suggests that James, Faraaz, and Roxy could be the Traitor. James says he will be using his two votes for Matt, but Matt refuses to accept that he would give the dagger to the one person who would vote against him.
James tries desperately to convince everyone that Matt is the Traitor, but he almost makes everyone turn on him. However, after a very tight roundtable discussion, Rachel has the deciding vote to send Matt home. Then, Matt reveals himself to be a Faithful, shocking everyone.
James takes this incredibly poorly, feeling extremely guilty that he sent home a Faithful. It's made things look bad for him, as he will likely face the fury of the roundtable in tomorrow's episode. He breaks down and wishes he could apologize to Matt, blaming himself for it. Although the gang comfort him, it's clear that they are beginning to suspect him.
Meanwhile, Faraaz shares his suspicions of Rachel with everyone. Rachel, shaken, promises him that she's not the Traitor, but she's beginning to question how to get out of this one. And with that, the Traitors reconvene for a very interesting discussion.
Rachel and Steven reveal all about their separate conversations with Faraaz. Although they could pick him as their next murder, they are afraid of the attention that it will draw to Rachel. Meanwhile, Rachel tells Stephen that they can't be seen to be defending each other in the days ahead so that, if he overhears her playing into the conversations revolving around him, it's only to protect their alliance. This shakes Stephen a little as he's unsure if he can trust Rachel going forward.
As the Traitors make their decision for who to murder next, the possibility of Traitor-on-Traitor warfare is once again lingering in the air.
