Temptation Island season 2 has come to an end on Netflix, but everyone is talking about the new season of the series following the release of the season 2 reunion on The Viall Files on Wednesday, April 22.
After one couple (Kaylee and Summit) left the show together during season 2, we have since learned that two other couples who broke up actually got back together, thanks to the reveals during the reunion with Nick Viall and Natalie Joy.
During the reunion, we learned that Cole and Scarlett got back together after leaving the island single, bringing that total of couples from season 2 who are still together to two. Sydney and Mikey almost brought that number to three, but things didn't work out.
Mikey and Sydney dated for three months after Temptation Island season 2
Sydney revealed that she and Mikey only broke up for four days after Temptation Island season 2. She broke things off with Xzavier almost immediately after leaving the show. Unfortunately, though, after dating for a few months, Mikey and Sydney broke up again and have stayed broke up since then.
Mikey explained things from his side after Sydney got emotional talking about how she hurt him on the show. Mikey said that, heading into the reunion, they hadn't seen each other for four months, which prompted Nick to ask what happened when they got back.
“So, Me and Sydney got back together four days after the show," Mikey said.
"Everything was going good," he continued. "It was phenomenal, but the thing about it was, I was holding onto what I experienced on the island. That was not fair to her whatsoever. Any inkling of us having an argument, I’d be throwing that jab at her. I saw her, as a woman, and it was tearing her down.”
So, the pair broke up around the end of 2025, since the reunion was just filmed in Los Angeles in early April.
While it's hard to say whether it happens that often, it's easy to understand why contestants like Sydney and Mikey get back together. They've just gone through this incredibly weird experience together, one that few people understand. Even when people break up, they often still have feelings for the person or have love for them. But, the reason they broke up in the first place usually presents itself.
It also means that Sydney and Xzavier, who she left the island with, didn't last long. She revealed during the reunion that she had a chance to reconnect with him and explain the situation. From her perspective, she took it well, but we have not heard his side of the story yet or if we will.
For those keeping track at home, it looks like Jack and Shyanne were the only couple from this season who didn't get back together for at least a short time following the season.
There's another half of the Temptation Island season 2 reunion coming on Friday, April 24. I'm not sure exactly what's left to cover, but we're about to find out!
