Who's ready for more Survivor? The forty-eighth season ended its run on CBS back in May 2025, and now the network is gearing up to air its highly anticipated forty-ninth installment this fall. And guess what? We finally have an official premiere date for Survivor 49!
On July 11, CBS officially announced the premiere dates for its biggest shows returning in the fall. One of those shows was Survivor. Drum roll, please! Survivor 49 is set to premiere on CBS on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025. But what's really exciting is that the first episode will be two hours long. It will air from 8:00 p.m. ET to 10:00 p.m. ET on Sept. 24.
We had originally thought the premiere episode would be 90 minutes long, which is the format CBS has used for recent seasons. But it looks like CBS treating fans to even more Survivor action right out of the gate. Starting the following week, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, Survivor will settle into its regular weekly timeslot of 8:00 p.m. ET to 9:30 p.m. ET.
Survivor 49 will see a bunch of new castaways heading to the islands of Fiji, where they’ll be pushed to their physical and mental limits as they compete in various grueling challenges all for the chance to win the $1 million prize fund and the title of Sole Survivor. Jeff Probst returns to host the forty-ninth season as well as executive produce.
Unfortunately, the Survivor 49 cast details are still being kept under wraps. Only one cast member has been confirmed so far, and it's former Marvel Studios development executive Nate Moore. Will he have what it takes to make it all the way to the end? That remains to be seen, but we're looking forward to seeing how things play out for him.
Besides Survivor 49, other CBS shows returning this fall include The Amazing Race season 38 on Sept. 25, Matlock season 2 on Oct. 12, Elsbeth season 3 on Oct. 12, and Watson season 2 on Oct. 13. Survivor won't end with its forty-ninth season either.
A Survivor 50 is confirmed and has just recently finished filming. In addition, a Survivor 51 and Survivor 52 are rumored to be happening as well. Probst announced this good news on the day Survivor 50 wrapped production. However, it's important to mention that CBS has yet to confirm the official renewals.
