We might not officially meet the Survivor 49 cast until closer to the fall, but one member of the cast has been confirmed after eagle-eyed fans spotted a familiar looking face in the brief promo CBS released for the new season.

As confirmed by Variety, CBS has cast former Marvel Studios executive Nate Moore in the upcoming season of Survivor. Moore’s involvement in the upcoming season was teased via the promo shown during the Survivor 48 finale via a brief glimpse of Moore swimming in the ocean. It didn’t take long for industry insiders to spot Moore in the trailer and speculate about his involvement in the upcoming season, and it’s not the first time a Hollywood creative has joined the show.

Mike White competed in Survivor 37 and made it all the way to the finale, where he finished in second place. White has since become known for creating and writing HBO’s hit drama The White Lotus, but he was making waves in Hollywood before his appearance on Survivor with credits on Dawson’s Creek, Freaks and Geeks, School of Rock, and Nacho Libre.

While Moore might not be a household name, he had a hand in working on several of Marvel Studios’ biggest movies and even on one of its Disney+ original shows.

Moore started his career with Marvel Studios back in 2010, joining the studio in its early days. While with the Marvel Studios team, Moore helped develop the screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy and served as a producer on several Marvel projects including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Eternals, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Captain America: Brave New World.

After 15 years with Marvel Studios, Moore stepped down as executive vice president of production and development in March 2025. He is still attached to the upcoming third Black Panther film, which he’s expected to executive produce.

Funny enough, it seems that Survivor 49 was one of the first opportunities Moore pursued after leaving Marvel Studios. Filming on the season was said to have kicked off in April, just a month after Moore stepped away from Marvel Studios.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether Moore opens up to his tribemates about his work in the entertainment industry and connection to Marvel Studios in the game, or if he’ll hide his background. Players have been known to hide information about their careers and personal lives for the sake of their game, and we could see Moore opting not to mention that he worked at Marvel Studios during the game.

We will be eager to see if he fares as well as White did or if he might end up getting cut earlier in the season. Given he only appeared briefly in the promo, it’s possible he might not last long, but we’ll have to tune into the season when it kicks off this fall to see just how far Moore makes it in Survivor 49.

Survivor 49 premieres this fall on CBS.
