From the moment that it was confirmed that ABC was producing a Scrubs revival series, there has been a lot of excitement about the project. Most notably, there has been an incredible amount of excitement among fans every time one of the original show's stars joined the revival's cast. Fans have also been talking about other actors from the original show that they hope to see return as part of Scrubs' second chapter.
Even though there is no doubt that there are many dedicated fans who can't wait to see the upcoming Scrubs revival, that doesn't mean that excitement is the only emotion that observers are feeling. Instead, the truth is that many fans are also concerned that the revival could disappoint viewers. Unfortunately, I believe that the first trailer for the Scrubs revival may have confirmed a major concern I have about the upcoming series.

The Scrubs revival's first trailer may have confirmed a problem with the cast
There are many reasons why Scrubs is widely considered to be one of the best sitcoms of its era. That said, the fact that the show's cast has incredible chemistry has always been one of the series' greatest strengths by far. After all, the sitcom's dedicated fans tend to know that its stars are also close friends in their personal lives.
Since the show's stars, like Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison, have all remained incredibly close, it seemed like a no-brainer that their onscreen chemistry would be a highlight of the sequel series. However, John C. McGinley revealed disappointing news in a video that made it seem like the cast interactions in the Scrubs revival may not be the perfection that they've been in the past.
When McGinley recorded a Cameo video for a fan, he stated that he was joining the cast of the Scrubs revival late. To be specific, McGinley stated that he would be filming scenes for the first episode of the Scrubs revival after the rest of the cast had already shot their parts. After learning that news, I was worried that the actors not filming together would make parts of the revival's first episode feel disjointed and false.
In late November 2025, the first teaser for the Scrubs revival was released. During the roughly 30-second clip, five of the show's original stars can briefly be seen portraying their beloved characters for the first time in years. While that made me very excited, I couldn't help but notice that John C. McGinley only appeared with one of his co-stars beside him, Judy Reyes.
Maybe it is just me feeling this way because I know about McGinley's past comments, but I believe that it really feels like he is in an entirely different scene from his other co-stars, Faison, Chalke, and Braff. To me, the timing in the trailer feels off, which makes me worried about Dr. Cox's scenes in the Scrubs revival's first episode.
