There is no doubt that this is going to come as bad and scary news for Brilliant Minds fans. The series is being pulled from the schedule once more, but it’s not all terrible. It doesn’t mean the network has no faith in the show.
The reasoning behind the pull is expected. In fact, the entire NBC schedule will see a shake up for the next two weeks, as a major sporting event is taking place. The good news is Brilliant Minds will return, and we know when.
Why is Brilliant Minds being pulled from the schedule again?
It feels like we just got the show back. In fact, it has only been on for two weeks (including tonight’s episode) after taking a week off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Well, the reasoning behind the pull is expected. It’s all due to the Winter Olympics.
Brilliant Minds will air a new episode tonight, Monday, Feb. 2. That will mark the only episode in February to air, as the Winter Olympics will take over programming for the majority of the month. During the last week of February, NBC has opted for a three-hour premiere of The Voice, rather than returning to the regular schedule.
Why is it not surprising that NBC is choosing the Winter Olympics? Well, the sporting event is going to draw more people in than the regular scripted content. As much as we hate to admit that as drama fans, it’s the truth. The Winter Olympics only happens every four years, and people want to support their athletes!
When will Brilliant Minds return with new episodes?
So, how long do we need to wait for new episodes? The good news is the date is set for Monday, March 2. Brilliant Minds season 2 episode 15 will air at 10/9c as usual, following a new episode of The Voice. You can catch up on the season via Peacock.
This is later in the year than we got with season 1, because there are more episodes to air. However, we are getting close to the finale, and there are currently a lot of questions about whether the series will be renewed or not. NBC is likely holding a lot of decisions until April and May, but we are concerned about this medical drama. It sits at the bottom of the scripted shows on the network, running the risk of cancellation, so you’ll need to watch live if you want to see a renewal to prove that it’s worth the save.
