It's time for another new episode Matlock, and it's the last episode of season 2 until after the Thanksgiving holiday. While other broadcast shows have been signing off for the year with their fall finales, we're not quite there yet with the hit CBS legal drama, but we should still be in for yet another twisty ending that will leave us waiting with bated breath for the next new episode.

Last week, Matty and Olympia worked overtime to shake Julian off their trail after he picked up new evidence that pointed to Matty being involved with Mrs. B in the Wellbrexa leak. They had to jump through hoops to tamper down his suspicions and basically gaslight him into believing Matty wasn't involved even though she was. He's right, but he can't know that because Matty isn't the problem.

Well, she has become something of a problem for Olympia. Their friendship and working relationship has been turbulent this season so far to say the least. Each episode, they are either fighting or aligned and sometimes they're even both. But they ended last week with Olympia heartbroken that she can't trust Matty because she made her hurt Julian. She isn't sure she wants to be friends.

However, according to the synopsis for Matlock season 2 episode 6, titled "Harm Reduction," Matty and Olympia will once again face a test to the boundaries of their fragile friendship. Meanwhile, the team takes on a new case involving nuns, and Olympia ropes Sarah into "secretive activities" at the firm. Let's find out what that means with a recap!

Matty and Olympia team up with Eva on a coup for Senior

After Olympia admitted she isn't sure she wants to continue their friendship, Matty brings her a peace offering coffee the next morning. They don't dwell on their personal matters and get straight to business on the matters at hand with taking down Senior. Eva's back in town and brings the team a case involving the nuns at her church and their housing. When alone, Eva speaks privately with Olympia about moving ahead with staging a coup to unseat Senior.

Olympia shares Eva's news with Matty. They know that the coup going through would work wonders for bringing him down for Wellbrexa. Speaking of Senior, he comes to Sarah in confidence to ask her to take photos of Julian's datebook to see if he's trying to poach clients before he leaves the firm. He doesn't give Sarah much of a choice in the matter. Matty agrees to take the brunt of convincing the other partners to vote Senior out. Meanwhile, Julian slips on rosary beads and falls down the stairs!

The episode flashes forward one week as the team continues to chip away at the nuns' case. Julian attempts to work while his right arm is extended in a sling. Sarah offers to help him out of guilt for being the reason he fell, but she's really still trying to get photos of his datebook. Julian calls Olympia to convince Sarah to stand down. Sarah flips Julian's request and asks Olympia to help her help him. Putting an end to his pity party, Olympia pushes Julian to use Sarah to his advantage.

Matty casually gets started on tainting Senior's name with the other partners and already makes progress on flipping some votes. Olympia doesn't seem to be on board with her methods to flip the votes, but she just needs more time to get there. Another week passes, and Olympia and Matty have secured the 21 votes they need for the coup. However, Eva calls Olympia with news that they're actually down one vote and they need to score another in New York.

Do Matty and Olympia get the votes for the coup?

Sarah's still trying to snap a pic of Julian's datebook, but she misses her moment when his meeting is pushed. After a rough day in court, Matty agrees to taking some space from Olympia and calls it "harm reduction." You guessed it, one more week passes and the team is still trying to help the nuns through the increasingly challenging case. (The nuns make a reference to Katy Perry, which is honestly a low-hanging fruit dig regarding a misconstrued situation involving the singer.)

Even though everything's kind of still up in the air, Julian seems to be back in action when he scores Incognity as a client at Jacobson Moore. He asks Sarah to join him to vet her as their lawyer, since he adheres to his dad's no poaching policy. Celebrating his win, it's time for him to hit Olympia with some straight talk. She drops by Matty's to insist that she can be mad as long as she wants in order to repair their friendship, and she also asks for help cracking the nun case. They're still an electric duo.

Sarah brings the news that Julian isn't poaching client to Senior, but he still insists on photos of his datebook. (It's been about a month since he asked... How has she not taken a single photo?) While speaking to an addict for the case, she starts to use in the car. Olympia tells her to get out, but Matty insists she stays for her safety. The sounds are triggering for Matty, and Olympia talks to her to distract her mind. It's a conversation that's healing to their friendship.

In court with a recovering addict on the stand, Matty hears her daughter speaking to her. Sarah ends up delivering photos of Julian's datebook to Senior, which doesn't feel good. The nuns only win part of their case, so they decide to leave the church and help those in need on the streets. Matty scored the last vote they needed for the coup from Olympia's former colleague who became a priest. For now, they're set to strike on Senior, but most importantly, Matty and Olympia are friends again.

Matlock airs Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
