Ghosts showrunner ‘would love’ to bring back this character for season 5

Could Sam interact with a fellow ghost-seeing again in Ghosts season 5?

Ghosts season 4 was packed with some great new characters. Some of them were ghosts (or turned into ghosts), and others could see the spirits at Woodstone Manor.

Now we know that one particular guest star is going to return for Ghosts season 5. Yes, Joan is coming back, and we’re excited to learn more about how she died and how she learned to stretch her powers. However, there’s another character we (and the showrunners) would love to see return.

Ghosts showrunners would love more of Kyle in season 5

In a TVLine Inside Line roundup, a fan asked about the character of Kyle, played by Ben Feldman. They, like many of us, would love to see his character come back. After all, Pete said that he had been spending time with Kyle after he left Woodstone, despite leaving not quite on the best of terms.

Co-showrunner Joe Wiseman responded that he would love to see Kyle come back. This opens the door in so many ways, especially as it offers someone else for Sam to talk to who can see the spirits.

“We would love him to come back. First of all, it’s just a big character for us, plus we love Ben, who was so funny. I think there’s a lot of places to go now that there’s another person that could see ghosts, and like [Pete] said, he can’t be too picky because he doesn’t have a lot of options for livings that are willing to hang out and can talk to him!”

Kyle
“Kyle” – Sam and Jay’s relationship is tested when Kyle (Ben Feldman), a handsome living who shares Sam’s ability to see ghosts, arrives at Woodstone B&B, on the CBS Original series GHOSTS, Thursday, May 1 (8:31-9:01 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. The question is whether Kyle would want to come back

As Sam learned about Kyle’s past, the two parted on bad terms. However, Pete made it clear that Kyle doesn’t have a lot of options when it comes to living arrangements and people to talk to. It’s why Pete has forced his way into Kyle’s life.

So, it would make sense that Kyle would return to Woodstone Manor with his tail between his legs in the hope that Sam and Jay would give him another shot. Pete may be the one to help seal this deal. It would be great for Sam to talk to someone else who can see ghosts more frequently, and we’d get a chance to see that Jay has grown a little in his jealousy over the situation.

However, I think what could be great is the Ghosts spinoff idea that came up in the previous season. Pete said that he and Sam could head out on the road to solve the cold cases out there. While Sam showed no interest at all, what if Kyle was the one interested in doing this? It would allow for the dynamics of the house to change a little, as Pete would spend more time away from Woodstone Manor, and it would keep the universe of Ghosts alive.

Ghosts will return on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
