Even though Young Sheldon is basically a prequel to Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage and the second series focusing on the titular couple is a direct continuation of it, the one revolved around the Cooper family mostly resolved all of its major storylines. There wasn't anything huge left over, except of course the heartbreak of losing George.
And if there's anything that is worth continuing and seeing, thankfully the new CBS sitcom has brought in the Young Sheldon cast quite often for us not to miss them! However, there's one major loose thread I think really needs to be addressed in Georgie and Mandy season 2.
We need to know what happens to Paige Swanson in Georgie and Mandy season 2
One fan-favorite character on Young Sheldon was Paige Swanson, played by McKenna Grace. She may not have been a main cast member, though she was a key guest character and appeared in quite a few episodes. Nine to be exact. For us viewers, we always liked to see her, and the young genius has so much potential. At points, she was even smarter than Sheldon. Though due to her parents' divorce, she acts out among the hurt and it's really sad to see. In the last episode she appears, her story still isn't resolved.
Paige first appears in season 2 episode 2, "A Rival Prodigy and Sir Isaac Neutron" and her final episode is in season 6 episode 16, "A Stolen Truck and Going on the Lam." Missy steals her dad's truck and she and Paige run away. Though they don't make it far after being a little rebellious driving the truck and not paying for their breakfast at the diner.
When they get pulled over, Missy confesses everything to the officer. Though in the episode George and Mary tell Missy she shouldn't see Paige anymore, I don't think this really would have stopped the little rebel from doing so.
Which brings us to Paige needing to be featured in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 2. Or, at least if the show can't get the very booked and busy actress, have Missy mention something about her to bring her story a little more closure. Has she continued on her rebellious streak? Does she eventually snap out of it and use her genius? There's no update about Paige in Young Sheldon or The Big Bang Theory, and it's really frustrating as a fan.
She's a very well-liked character who has a bit of a tragic story going for her. We just would like some answers. And with the Young Sheldon cast coming in and out, including Missy, it would be easy enough to at least have a couple of lines mentioning Paige. With Missy also acting out right now, she'd be sure to call up her friend. It's easy enough to do, so I hope the writers actually do it.
Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 2 premieres sometime in fall 2025 on CBS.
