Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage became one of the best new comedies on the small screen last fall, and it's no surprise that all of us fans adored it so much. CBS launched the new sitcom as a new entry in The Big Bang Theory franchise as a direct spinoff of equally successful prequel series Young Sheldon. This time, it's centered on Georgie and Mandy as they raise their newborn daughter.
On Oct. 16, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 premieres, but before a new season begins, there's still time to sneak in one more binge-watch of the hilarious first season. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment releases the complete first season on DVD on Tuesday, Oct. 7, and it's the perfect set for fans to add to their collection to be able to watch the season without dealing with streaming.
Warner Bros. sent me a review copy ahead of the set's official release date, and I couldn't wait to tear right into the set for another rewatch before season 2 begins. The DVD features all 22 episodes from Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 1, and if you're in the market to add the physical media edition to your shelf for the episodes alone, you're golden. However, there are a couple cons.

Georgie & Mandy gets a DVD release, but there are no bonus features
While most comedy DVD sets split the episodes between three or four discs, Georgie & Mandy's 22 episodes are split between two discs. That means each disc is stuffed with 11 episodes. For those who prefer the highest quality possible for their physical media, these discs might not have the quality you're looking for. But honestly, the episodes still look crisp and clear and sound great.
Another major con, perhaps the biggest for most fans, the DVD set doesn't include any bonus features. There are no behind-the-scenes featurettes, audio commentaries, deleted scenes, or outtakes. The fact that there isn't a gag reel for a sitcom feels like a missed opportunity and a massive oversight. Surely, there were some mess-ups that could have been compiled!
There are some behind-the-scenes clips fans can find online, like Montana Jordan and Emily Osment on the set filming the opening sequence. Obviously, that would have made an excellent bonus feature to make the DVD set an even more valuable buy for fans. For the most part, the two-disc split and the lack of bonus features are the only downside of the DVD.
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 1 on DVD includes easily accessible navigation menus that take you home, to the episodes, and language selection. You're able to skip through the episodes in chapters, which is a quick way to get to a certain scene. (Some DVDs don't have that option these days!) The set also includes subtitles, but English is the only available language for subtitles.
Overall, I highly recommend the DVD set as a must-buy for fans of the show. As of the set's release, the price point is an affordable $19.95 on Amazon, less than $1 per episode. Warner Bros. didn't release the season on an official Blu-ray set, so keep that in mind while you're looking into purchasing the sitcom on physical media. Fingers crossed that future season releases contain bonus features!
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
