It's almost time for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage to return to CBS with its second season, and we couldn't be more excited to reunite with all of our favorite characters. But the Young Sheldon spinoff doesn't appear to be in any hurry to reunite fans with a certain character from The Big Bang Theory spinoff that started it all, but we might not even need more cameos.
By the end of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage's first season, the sitcom had completely established itself as its own series apart from either of the comedies that came before it. While the show features frequent returns from characters like Mary, Missy, and Meemaw, the sitcom had completely formed its identity around the marital ups and downs of the titular new parents.
However, that doesn't stop fans from wanting to see more appearances from their Young Sheldon favorites! Raegan Revord, who played Sheldon's twin sister Missy in Young Sheldon and returns here and there in Georgie & Mandy, recently revealed their thoughts about the ultimate return from arguably the biggest star in the whole franchise: Sheldon himself!
Sheldon probably won't appear in George and Mandy
While promoting their debut young adult novel Rules for Fake Girlfriends, Raegan Revord dropped by Entertainment Tonight and was asked about all things Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy. Naturally, the outlet asked whether Iain Armitage would be the next actor from the former CBS hit to appear in the current CBS hit, but Revord shared why that "wouldn't make sense."
"I mean, that would be so much fun, but I feel like because they're sticking to The Big Bang Theory lore and everything — because the whole thing in The Big Bang Theory is Georgie and Sheldon don't talk because they kind of have a rift between them after George dies. So, if they're sticking to that, I feel it wouldn't make sense for Sheldon to come back, but who knows? Maybe they'll find a loophole. They have found loopholes before, maybe they'll find them again," Revord shared.
Revord's comments do, in fact, make sense. Georgie and Sheldon's rift does carry over into The Big Bang Theory, and while that series takes place many years after Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage (which is set in the '90s), they still aren't that close. Also, Sheldon's away at school and isn't still in Medford, Teaxs like Missy, Mary, and Meemaw, who drop by every so often.

Of course, nothing's set in stone, though, as Revord alluded to while speaking with Entertainment Tonight. They stated that the powers that be could find a "loophole" to get Sheldon back to Medford. Maybe the family would even manage to make a trip to visit Sheldon at school at some point. I agree that it doesn't make total sense for Sheldon to appear, but he has to at least one more time, right?
As the series continues with each season, assuming the sitcom will have as long of a run as the two series before it, Georgie & Mandy should rely less and less on guest stars from Young Sheldon. However, it does feel rather necessary to bring Sheldon back at least once before the spinoff ends. Maybe not right away, but down the line to further set up and establish his rift with Georgie.
But as Revord revealed, we shouldn't hold our breath for Sheldon to be back on our screens any time soon, especially not in season 2. It's definitely a bummer for long-time fans of the franchise, but there's enough in store for the new season to get us excited. And even though Armitage won't reprise his role right now, that doesn't mean he isn't still tight with the cast. Revord said they're still as close with him as they are with Montana Jordan. That Cooper connection is just like family!
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c on CBS.
