The first season of Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage is coming to a close this week on CBS, and honestly the sneak peek details about the last (two) episodes are making us pretty nervous for what's to come between the titular couple. There could be major trouble ahead, that leads to why the series is named "First Marriage."
The Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage season 1 finale airs Thursday, May 15, 2025 starting at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. This one is actually going to be a two-parter, so be sure to stick around when episode 22 is on right after starting at 8:30 p.m. ET. You can also stream episodes on CBS the next day.
An old flame arrives in the Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage finale
So what exactly are these details that have us so nervous? Well according to the synopsis, season 1 episode 21, "Guilt Boots," sees Jim considering selling the tire shop, which gets Georgie in a frenzy. As he should be!
Though the other part of the description teases that "Mandy's forced to confront a long-running lie." One promotional photo from the episode, which we shared above, shows guest star Christopher Gorham as Scott. He will be introduced in the first part of the season finale as "Mandy’s new boss whose romantic history with her starts to complicate her life," per TVLine.
So, an ex-boyfriend then. I think it's safe to assume that the long-running lie has something to do with Scott, her boss at the Channel 7 news station. Then, we get further into it in the synopsis for season 1 episode 22, "Big Decisions."
"Tensions rise when Georgie finds out the truth about Mandy’s boss, and Georgie does all he can to buy the tire store before Jim sells it, on part two of the first season finale."
The Scott and Mandy situation won't stop there either! TVLine also teased that Scott will be "around beyong the hour-long season 1 finale." Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage has already been renewed for a season 2 at CBS. With all these hints, it's obvious that Scott's role in the Cooper-McAllister life is going to cause tension between the couple. Is this what could eventually lead to their split? I don't know how quickly the writers want to get to this.
The creative team has played around with what was already established in The Big Bang Theory as we saw in Young Sheldon. For example, the OG series mentioned George had cheated on Mary when Sheldon walked in and saw him with another woman. On the spin-off regarding the genius' life growing up, it was teased multiple times that George might have done that with the neighbor, Brenda. However, nothing ends up happening between the two.
Young Sheldon portrays the moment Sheldon saw as Mary dressing up as a German barmaid in a role play sort of situation with her husband. But Sheldon didn't know that and assumed it was another woman. There's also the fact that we knew George was destined to die. There was no way around it. But the writers were able to put it off as long as possible into the final episodes of the final season.
All of this is to say that it was written into TBBT that Georgie has been married at least two times. Sheldon says he received a text from his brothers ex-wife, and his other ex-wife. And with the current series titled Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, it's implying the writers are going to try and play around with that as Georgie and Mandy may always get remarried.
But do they want to tackle that soon at some point in season 2, a potential season 3, wait until the end, or is this just going to be ignored and Scott's introduction is just something to create some drama? We'll just have to stick around and find out.
