Everyone stay calm! The Office spinoff series, The Paper, was first announced to be in development in January 2024. Well, Peacock has finally set a premiere date for the show, and it's an exciting one. Thankfully, it's coming up pretty soon. Plus, there's a first-look image for us to feast our eyes on!
Get ready to start streaming in just a couple of months because The Paper premieres Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025 on Peacock. The streamer is actually dropping the first four episodes of 10 of the mockumentary comedy on release day. So there's plenty of it to enjoy that first day.
After that, the show will move to a two-episode drop each week until the finale on Thursday, Sept. 25. Personally, I do wish that it was a weekly release, or perhaps even having just two installments out on the day the new show debuts. I feel like it's going to be over so soon. I know it's a streaming show, but given that The Office was on NBC with a one-episode release a week which is the norm for broadcast productions, I feel like that would have worked a little better.
Oh well. I guess looking on the bright side is that multiple episodes will be out. Greg Daniels returns to co-lead the spinoff as creator, writer, and executive producer. Michael Koman joins in those duties as well. The Paper stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key. You can also expect to see Eric Rahill, Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Mo Welch, Allan Havey, Duane Shepard Sr., Nate Jackson, and Nancy Lenehan.
There's actually one more exciting cast member who will appear as well, and that's Oscar Nuñez reprising his role as Oscar Martinez. Right now, he's the only The Office original character set to star. Though we're definitely not ruling out any other surprise appearances. I mean, I'll even take a cameo if there's a certain actor who can't commit to a whole episode. We need to see the Dunder Mifflin gang back together in some capacity!
The Paper takes place in Toledo, Ohio where a struggling newspaper, The Truth Teller, is not in great shape. It needs volunteer reporters and all around seems to need all the help it can get. Just like the original comedy, the new series will have a documentary crew following along the paper's journey to hopefully get back on their feet, as the employees and volunteer reporters lives in the workplace are also front and center.
