One Chicago Wednesdays will soon be returning to NBC’s lineup with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD making their way back to the lineup with new seasons. The returns of the shows will bring about some cast shakeups once again with each of the One Chicago shows undergoing some surprising cast changes over the summer months, including Chicago PD.
When Chicago PD returns for its thirteenth season on Oct. 1, fans will notice some immediate changes to the cast. One key member of the Intelligence Unit has left the Windy City, a new face is about to take their place, and those are just a few of the changes impacting Chicago PD in season 13.

Chicago PD cast exits: Who won’t be back for season 13?
Let’s start with who won’t be returning for Chicago PD season 13. The biggest cast change heading into season 13 is the departure of Toya Turner after just one season on the show. Word of Turner’s departure came about a month after season 12 wrapped, and her exit continues a troubling trend for the show in which new additions to the team come and go after just one season.
“My time on Chicago PD has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next,” Turner said in a statement to Deadline announcing her exit in late June. “To the cast and crew: thank you for the warmth, the laughter, and the generosity you brought every day. It was an honor to share the screen and the set with such talent.”
Turner joined the show in the season 12 premiere, playing Officer Kiana Cook. After catching Voight’s attention, she was called up to work as part of the Intelligence Unit and worked alongside the team through the finale. Interestingly, there was no indication that Turner was leaving the show in the season 12 finale and it remains unclear why the show opted not to bring her back.
With Turner exiting the show, fans should expect Cook’s exit to occur off-screen, with the show likely to explain her absence via a quick throwaway line at some point in the premiere.
It should come as little surprise that Shawn Hatosy’s time on Chicago PD has also come to a close. Hatosy’s character, Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, was killed off in the season 12 finale and the moment brought about the end of his run on the show. While it’s possible we might see Reid in a flashback referencing the events of season 12, we’re not expecting to see Hatosy back for season 13.

Who is new to the Chicago PD season 13 cast?
With Toya Turner leaving the show after just one season, Chicago PD is slated to introduce a new officer in season 13 to fill Cook’s vacancy on the Intelligence Unit. Joining the cast in season 13 as a new series regular is The Night Agent star Arienne Mandi.
Mandi will be playing Officer Eva Imani, a former soldier and military contractor. Her character is described as being brave and unafraid to face challenges, whose background in the military makes her perfect in intense and high-pressure situations. It’s unclear how she’ll be introduced, but fans can look forward to meeting Officer Imani in the season 13 premiere, and it seems likely she’s going to become an unexpected ally to Voight.

Chicago PD season 13 cast
While there have been some cast shakeups for Chicago PD, fans will be relieved to know that aside from Toya Turner, all other season 12 series regulars will be coming back for season 13. Chicago PD season 13 will star Jason Beghe (Sergeant Hank Voight), LaRoyce Hawkins (Officer Kevin Atwater), Patrick John Flueger (Officer Adam Ruzek), Benjamin Levy Aguilar (Officer Dante Torres), Amy Morton (Sergeant Trudy Platt), and Marina Squerciati (Detective Kim Burgess). Also joining the cast in season 13 as a series regular is Arienne Mandi (Officer Eva Imani).
Heading into season 13, Chicago PD maintains most of its original cast with Beghe, Hawkins, Flueger, Morton, and Squerciati having appeared in every season of the show thus far!
