Be prepared for a slight change when Chicago PD returns with its highly anticipated thirteenth season this fall, as a brand-new character steps in to fill the shoes of a departing Intelligence Unit officer. Arienne Mandi (The Night Agent, The L Word: Generation Q) has reportedly joined the season 13 cast as a series regular.
According to Deadline, Mandi will portray CPD Officer Naomi Kerr, a former soldier and military contractor skilled at handling intense and high-pressure situations. The character is described as being someone who is brave and unafraid to face challenges but is also very private. However, Deadline also notes that the character name and traits could change since the show is still in production.
Mandi joins the cast just a month after the announcement of Toya Turner’s departure from the show. Turner, who played Officer Kiana Cook, exited after season 12, leaving a vacancy in the Intelligence Unit that Mandi's Naomi Kerr is expected to fill. The reason for Turner's departure after just one season has not been disclosed. However, she expressed gratitude in a statement to Deadline following her exit, thanking fans and the show for the opportunity to portray Kiana.
Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead co-created Chicago PD. It's a police procedural following the officers of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit as they investigate and tackle the city’s most serious crimes. It'll be exciting to see how Mandi's Naomi character integrates into the team. Will she get along with the seasoned officers, or will her fearless, independent nature create tension? We can't wait to find out!
Many may recognize Mandi from her previous starring role as Dani Nùñez in the Showtime drama series The L Word: Generation Q. She also had a small role on CBS's FBI, playing a character named Anna Fox in an episode of the show's seventh season. Her most recent project was starring as Noor Taheri in the second season of The Night Agent. Besides her new role in Chicago PD, we'll see her next in Your Friends & Neighbors season 2 and a thriller flick titled Hostage.
An official premiere date for Chicago PD season 13 has not been announced yet. However, it's already been confirmed for a fall 2025 release on NBC. The brand new installment will start airing on Wednesdays in the fall at 10:00 p.m. ET/9:00 p.m. CT.
