Back in December 2023, Disney and Netflix finalized a short-term licensing deal that would bring 14 popular older TV shows to the streaming platform. The shows included The Wonder Years reboot, The Resident, Lost, This Is Us, Prison Break, Archer, How I Met Your Mother, White Collar, Home Improvement, ESPN 30 for 30, My Wife and Kids, Reba, The Bernie Mac Show and The Hughleys.
The agreement was non-exclusive, meaning the shows would still be available on other platforms too. Between January 2024 and February 2025, all 14 series were gradually added to Netflix as part of the deal. However, each title was only licensed for an 18-month window. That window is now approaching for several of the broadcast shows on the list.
We don't want you to be caught off guard and miss your chance to rewatch (or finally watch) these beloved broadcast favorites before they leave Netflix for good. That said, we put together a list of the six broadcast series set to depart the streaming platform in 2025.
The Wonder Years reboot
Expected Netflix departure date: July 1, 2025
ABC's The Wonder Years is a reimagining of the beloved 1988 series of the same name. Brown, Chrissy Metz
Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, Ron Cephas Jones, Jon Huertas, and many others starred in this NBC series.
My Wife and Kids
Expected Netflix departure date: Aug. 5, 2025
ABC's My Wife and Kids is hands down one of the funniest sitcoms ever made. It stars Damon Wayans as Michael Richard Kyle Sr., a loving but no-nonsense father who tries his best to run his household but is constantly reminded that parenting isn’t always easy and sometimes you have to laugh through the chaos. Also in the cast were Tisha Campbell-Martin, George O. Gore II, Jazz Raycole, Parker McKenna Posey, Jennifer Nicole Freeman, and others.
The Resident
Expected Netflix departure date: Sept. 4, 2025
If you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy, then you should be watching FOX's The Resident. Both are currently streaming on Netflix. Like the ABC medical drama, The Resident is set in a fictional hospital where medical professionals deal with life-and-death situations while also grappling with their own personal struggles. The show mainly centers on Dr. Conrad Hawkins, a talented yet unconventional senior resident, who isn’t afraid to challenge hospital politics and fight for the best care for his patients.
The cast included Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Bruce Greenwood, Merrin Dungey, Melina Kanakaredes, Moran Atias, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and so many others.
Reba
Expected Netflix departure date: Nov. 6, 2025
You might currently be watching Reba McEntire in NBC's Happy's Place, but before she starred in this comedy sitcom, she led one of the most beloved family sitcoms of the early 2000s. We're talking about Reba.
In this show, she played a single mom trying to hold her family together after a messy divorce. Besides McEntire, the cast comprised Christopher Rich, JoAnna García, Steve Howey, Scarlett Pomers, Mitch Holleman, and Melissa Peterman. Reba aired its first five seasons on The WB, followed by its sixth and final season on The CW.
How I Met Your Mother
Expected Netflix departure date: Dec. 3, 2025
Created by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, How I Met Your Mother centers on Ted Mosby as he tells his children the story of how he met their mother, unfolding over years of unforgettable moments. Through a series of flashbacks narrated by an older Ted, the CBS show explores the friendships, romances, and comedic ups and downs of Ted and his tight-knit friend group living in New York City.
Josh Radnor starred in the leading role of Ted Mosby, while the late Bob Saget provided the voice of older Ted. Other cast members included Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, and Cristin Milioti.
