We have one more episode of Brilliant Minds before the Winter Olympics break, and this one is set to be a big one. Josh’s life is on the line on Brilliant Minds season 2 episode 14, and Wolf needs to figure out how to save him.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Brilliant Minds season 2 episode 14.
It all starts with the patient, but this time, it’s a patient who nobody knows about. While working in the basement, the maintenance man, Amos, accidently shoots himself with a nail gun. A nail also shoots into the pipes, which is what starts the CO leak in the hospital.
It doesn’t take long for people to start suffering from the CO poisoning. However, without knowing that there is a leak, they all continue to work and treat their patients.

Wolf runs tests on Sofia on Brilliant Minds season 2 episode 14
While the gas leak spreads, Wolf has managed to call Sofia in for her sleep study test. This is all being done off the books, though, so you know that it runs the risk of a much bigger problem thanks to the gas leak. As she gets set up, she has the leaflet for Hudson Oaks, sharing how there’s a door prize. That’s just the way these places get you in, Wolf believes, but we know it’s only a matter of episodes before we find out why Wolf is in Hudson Oaks.
Meanwhile, everyone is pulling a mandatory double shift due to the bad weather outside. This gives the doctors more time with their patients, but it also exposes them to the CO for longer. One of Dana’s patients, a pregnant woman, is able to leave, but Dana suggests that she stays due to the weather. She’ll find a reason to make it possible, and this patient is more than happy to stay away from home just a little bit longer.
As Amos is found, the initial examination looks good. However, as he starts sharing everything he feels, Thorne knows that there is something wrong. He’s usually the sweetest guy. Then when he sneezes brain matter, it’s clear that he needs surgery. That nail ended up in his brain!
However, Josh is starting to suffer from the CO, although he thinks he’s coming down with the flu that is going around. He excuses himself from the surgery and reluctantly agrees to call Beau in — who is happy to help the patients.

Silva finally realizes that something bigger is going on
It’s Silva who points out that something isn’t right. All the patients are getting worse, and none of the symptoms are making sense. When Carol points out that everyone is suffering signs of CO poisoning, they all react. The hospital needs to be shut down.
Sure enough, Josh’s symptoms are mimicking a heart attack. He has collapsed on his desk, so Beau and Wolf get him down to the ED.
It turns out that the gas leak was only on the third floor. Those who were in closed rooms — Josh and the pregnant patient — are the ones most affected. Why didn’t the CO monitors go off? This old building is faulty, and those CO monitors are oversensitive, so they were likely turned off.

As Ericka, Dana, Charlie, and Silva sit together with an oxygen tank to share, they run through their regrets. Charlie shares that he regrets not being kinder to himself and to the interns, but Ericka isn’t going to let him off that easily. He came to town with the idea of revenge, and he needs to own that. Maybe he is as she shares his regrets. It’s not like he asked for forgiveness from anyone.
Now the real emergency begins on Brilliant Minds season 2 episode 14. The main oxygen source has run out, because too many people need it. When Josh and the pregnant patient start getting worse, there isn’t enough oxygen with enough pressure to help them. That’s when Wolf figures out what they need to do — or more like where they need to go.
It’s off to the hospital basement, where there happens to be a hyperbaric chamber. There is only one canister of oxygen left, though. Is that enough to save both Josh and the pregnant patient? They have to hope so, and just as Wolf is about to get into the chamber, Beau comes rushing down from surgery. He’s a doctor, so he can help monitor, and he would like to be in there with Josh. Wolf offers it up to Josh, who chooses Beau.

Just as it looks like the oxygen is going to run out, Josh collapses and whispers Wolf’s name. However, everyone makes a full recovery, and now Josh needs to be honest with Beau about Wolf. Will this destroy their relationship?
In the end, Beau decides to forgive Josh, as long as he knows where his heart lies now. It is with Beau.

What happened to Sofia on Brilliant Minds?
While dealing with Josh, Wolf had initially forgotten all about Sofia. However, he quickly rushed back up to the third floor, where Sofia was coming down from. Angrily, she shares that a maintenance guy woke her up and got her out of there, and then she storms off.
Wolf decides it’s finally time to tell Carol about Sofia, feeling guilty for forgetting about her. This isn’t just about Sofia, though. Wolf finally opens up about a few other things that are going on in his life, and he finally allows himself to cry and let it all out.
As Wolf goes back to Noah’s place, where Sofia is waiting to apologize and suggest that Wolf destroys the place with a baseball bat to let his anger out, Carol looks through the taps for the sleep study room. However, what she finds is something unexpected. Sofia was never there. Sure, Wolf went in, but he was on his own, and he was the one with the Hudson Oaks leaflet. At no point did Sofia appear, and it’s not clear that Sofia is just a figment of Wolf’s imagination on Brilliant Minds.
Brilliant Minds is now heading on a break, and it will return on Monday, March 2 at 10/9c on NBC.
