Boston Blue finally premiered on CBS in October 2025, and the new spinoff series kicked off the season by bringing back two major characters from Blue Bloods. In the first episode, we saw the return of Bridget Moynahan as Danny's younger sister, ADA Erin Reagan, as well as Marisa Ramirez as Danny's former partner at the NYPD, Detective Maria Baez.
In the premiere, Erin travelled to Boston to be there for Danny and her nephew Sean, who was in a coma at the hospital. On the other hand, Maria appeared briefly in the first episode before Danny left for Boston. In the short scene, we learned that Danny and Maria were officially dating. This was great news for Blue Bloods fans who had been waiting for them to get together.
Unfortunately, Moynahan hasn't returned to reprise her role as Erin since her cameo in the premiere. However, Ramirez came back to play Maria in the third episode of the season. In this episode, Danny is officially working at the Boston PD with his partner Lena Silver after relocating to the city.
But we don't see Maria again until the very end of the episode. Danny is shown walking towards the elevator of the police station when Maria approaches him. They walk to the elevator together and enter it. They then begin hugging, and as soon as they're about to kiss, the episode cuts to the credits. We haven't seen Maria on the show since then.

But that's all about to change with the upcoming sixth episode on Nov. 21. Titled "Code of Ethics," CBS has released the official production stills for this episode, and Maria is included in a few of them. We shared one of the photos featuring this beloved Blue Bloods character down below.
In the previous episodes of Boston Blue that Maria appeared in, she was wearing casual clothing. But as you can see in the picture above, she's dressed up in her work attire. Why? Well, it's because she'll be helping Danny and Lena out on a case in the sixth episode. According to the episode's official logline, Maria will be assisting Danny and Lena in hunting down a serial home invader.
This will be the first time Maria and Lena officially meet, so it'll be interesting to see how their personalities and investigative styles mesh or clash on the job. It'll also be exciting to see how Danny navigates working alongside both Maria and Lena at the same time.

"With an assist from NYPD’s Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez), Danny and Lena hunt down a serial home invader. Sean’s budding romance faces unexpected complications. Meanwhile, Mae and Sarah uncover a troubling leak that could upend the justice system."
We're keeping our fingers crossed that more Blue Bloods characters make cameos or guest appearances in Boston Blue season 1 somewhere down the line. But this is all we know for right now.
