Marvel star joins cast of CBS hit series Boston Blue

A familiar face from the Marvel universe is heading to Boston Blue, taking on a recurring role that promises to add to the show’s already dynamic lineup.

When Blue Bloods came to an end after many years, the millions of people who loved CBS's police procedural show were very disappointed. On the bright side, the people who were sad to see that show end could hold on to the fact that Blue Bloods was receiving a spin-off. Since that news surfaced, viewers wanted to learn everything there was to know about the spin-off, which is titled Boston Blue.

Now that Boston Blue has started, some viewers may have expected there to no longer be big news about the series that has been a hit so far. However, even a show that has been around for years can excite fans with news, like when Chicago Med cast the former star of a beloved HBO series. Similarly, Boston Blue fans should be excited that it has been revealed that show has recently cast a former Marvel superhero movie star.

Marvel's Xochitl Gomez joins Boston Blue in a recurring role

On Nov. 7, Deadline reported that Xochitl Gomez had joined the cast of Boston Blue in a recurring role.

The outlet's report also revealed that Gomez had been cast as a character named Penny, who is described as a quick-thinking and charming young woman with a mysterious past. While there is no way for fans to know how Gomez's character will affect the show yet, Deadline's report states that she will have a major effect on the life of Mika Amonsen's character, Sean Regan. Of course, Sean Regan is the son of Donnie Wahlberg's Boston Blue character.

On top of revealing some basic details about Gomez's character, Deadline's report detailed when Boston Blue's fans can expect Penny to show up.

According to the outlet, Gomez will make her debut on the police procedural spin-off during the episode that will premiere on Friday, November 21. Based on that information, Gomez's debut will come as a part of Boston Blue season 1 episode 6, "Code of Ethics."

Before landing her Boston Blue role, Gomez's career went to another level when she landed a lead role in Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as America Chavez. Gomez has also lent her voice to the cast of an upcoming animated The Cat in the Hat movie that is set to be released in 2026.

Prior to landing her Marvel big break, Gomez made her TV debut during episodes of Raven's Home, and she starred in The Baby-Sitters Club, Netflix's series based on the classic line of books. Some fans may also know Gomez for her brief reality show reign since she won season 32 of Dancing with the Stars alongside Val Chmerkovskiy.
