What is Boston Blue about?
Well, for starters, we must mention Boston Blue's connection to another CBS show. If you weren't aware, Boston Blue serves as a spinoff to the long-running hit series Blue Bloods. Yes, the show that followed the Reagan family through their highs and lows in the NYPD now expands its universe, following Danny Reagan as he relocates to Boston and navigates a new city, new cases, and a whole new team.
In Boston Blue, ex-NYPD detective Danny Reagan leaves New York behind and heads to Boston to reconnect with his son Sean, who is now patrolling the city streets as a Boston PD patrolman. Soon, Danny finds himself on the force and paired with Lena Silver, a brilliant detective from one of Boston’s most respected law enforcement families. Together, they tackle high-stakes cases and unravel complex crimes all throughout the city.
Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis created Boston Blue. Unfortunately, it's unknown how many episodes make up the first season. Blue Bloods seasons consisted of 16 episodes or more. Since we're in a different television landscape now, with streaming and network schedules constantly evolving, the first season of Boston Blue could be shorter or follow a slightly different format. Obviously, we're hoping for a solid batch of episodes. But we’ll have to wait for CBS to reveal the official episode count before we know for sure. We'll get back to you with this important information once it is revealed.

Who is in the Boston Blue season 1 cast?
You can expect to see Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg in the new spinoff. He reprises his former role as Danny Reagan. Sonequa Martin-Green, who is best known for her roles in The Walking Dead and Star Trek: Discovery, takes on the role of Lena Silver. Also in the cast are Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, and Mika Amonsen as Sean Reagan.
Will there be any Blue Bloods cameos? Absolutely! There's only confirmed news so far that Bridget Moynahan, who played Erin Reagan on Blue Bloods, will appear in the premiere episode of Boston Blue. However, some of the other Blue Bloods cast members have previously stated that they'd be open to returning in a spinoff series, like Will Estes, Tom Selleck, Vanessa Ray, Marisa Ramirez, and Will Hochman.
Is there a Boston Blue season 1 trailer?
Yes! There's an action-packed trailer, and it'll get you much more hyped about Boston Blue's premiere after watching it! Not only does it show Danny roaming the streets of Boston alongside his new partner Lena to solve crimes, but it also introduces us to the other main characters, such as Sarah, Mae, Reverend Peters, Jonah, and Sean.
In the trailer's description, it teases what the first episode will be about. We'll get to see Danny and Lena on their first case together. They'll be investigating a case involving a deadly fire at a tech company. Based on the trailer, it looks like Danny and Lena don't meet without some tension. It'll be interesting to see how they manage to work together even though they have different styles and approaches to police work.
