From the moment that it was announced that Blue Bloods would be getting a spin-off titled Boston Blue, a lot of attention has been paid to the new show's cast. First, there was excitement as the spin-off hired new actors who didn't appear in the original show, including a Marvel movie star who briefly joined the cast. However, most fans of both CBS shows were more interested in other casting news.

Since Boston Blue was announced, Blue Bloods fans wanted to know which stars from the original series would appear in the spin-off. That interest is why it was disappointing that Tom Selleck seemed disinterested in appearing in Boston Blue episodes. Thankfully, however, exciting news about Blue Bloods stars appearing on Boston Blue has just been revealed.

In December 2025, TVLine interviewed Boston Blue's co-creators, Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, about what to expect from the rest of the show's first season. On top of teasing how some storylines would play out, the most exciting part of the article had to be the discussion about Boston Blue cameos from Blue Bloods characters.

During the interview, Margolis told the outlet that one of the most important people in Danny Reagan's life will be appearing during the season's second half. Fortunately for fans who are interested in their relationship, Danny and Marisa Ramirez's Maria Baez will be reuniting as the season progresses.

“We will see Baez again in the second half of the season — more than once. There will be a continuation of that story — a check-in to see where they are and to further establish the difficulties they're facing with a long-distance relationship. We're going to continue telling that story through the back half of the season, and it will run through to the end. There's more to come.”

While it is interesting enough to know that Maria will be appearing, that wasn't the end of the exciting news that Margolis shared about Blue Bloods characters cameoing during upcoming Boston Blue episodes. The spin-off's boss revealed that at least two members of Danny's family will appear before season 1 of Boston Blue ends. However, it was explained that fans shouldn't expect Tony Terraciano's Jack Reagan to appear.

“We can say there will be more Reagans appearing in the back half of the season. It won't be Jack. We love the idea, and we're open to it if it makes sense storytelling-wise. We're never closing the door on any of the Reagans or any possibility of bringing pieces from the larger universe into our bubble in Boston.”

On top of Margolis talking about Boston Blue's upcoming Blue Bloods character cameos, Sonnier discussed the subject too. In Sonnier's case, he explained why Boston Blue's writers have been careful about when to feature appearances from Danny's family.

"We really wanted to establish the Silvers first. But now, especially coming out of the midseason finale, we're fully embracing the Reagans as part of the larger Silver family. I don't know that we should say which Reagans are coming, but there will be more — including some you haven't seen on the show yet. And there are other branches of this family tree we're excited to explore."
