As we reminded you yesterday, FXX is treating Abbott Elementary fans to a new episode before the hit comedy series returns for season 5 this fall 2025 on ABC. Back in season 4 episode 9, "Volunteers," there was a crossover episode between the show and FXX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Well, now it's the other show's turn to portray the events that happened that week. However, you'll want to be aware if you were planning to watch the second crossover episode with your kids.
While Abbott Elementary is a broadcast network show, which means there's a limit to what they can say or do maturity wise, Sunny very much does not have those same restrictions. The ABC series is rated TV-14, meant for those who are 14 years or older. However, I know that there are some younger teens and kids who watch it as it's a good family show overall.

However, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has a TV-MA age rating, and lives up to it. This rating is given to a production that has unsuitable content for those under the age of 17 years including language, violence, and mature themes.
While this second Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny crossover episode, which you can watch on FXX at 9 p.m. ET tonight or stream on Hulu tomorrow, is not too bad, there are a couple of things you'll want to be aware of. Mostly when it comes to language and some more mature references.

Drugs, sex, and violence: Mostly none. One character mentions wanting to find a bad boy for the band they're trying to put together to make the "sexual component less weird." But that's pretty much all they say about that. In the end scene, everyone is also at the gang's bar, Paddy's Pub, and the names of alcoholic drinks are mentioned.
Language: As an avid viewer of Sunny, I can tell you that their episode is actually pretty toned down for their standards. Even if it is on cable channel FXX. I'm sure this has to do with the fact they know many Abbott viewers will want to tune in, despite it being more raunchy.

So the biggest thing you'll want to be aware of is the language used. While some lighter curse words are used in Abbott, stronger ones are in this episode. Those include one of the Abbott Elementary characters saying "f-ing c**t," the f-bomb dropped multiple times, mother f-er, and then other lighter, if you will, swear words like a** and sh-t.
There's also a moment, not very long but one to point out, where one of the Sunny characters is peeing in a locker. And they use the other word for peeing in that moment as well. Also, they do start a fire and there's more mature subjects talked about like racism and 9/11. Still overall, it's not horrible, especially for this comedy.
Though you do want to be extra mindful of your kids and dependent on how old they are, this episode may not be one to watch with the whole family. Use your discretion and what you're comfortable with at the end of the day. Though there are several elements you'll want to be careful of.
Stream both of the Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episodes on Hulu.
