ABC has finally unveiled the official premiere dates for its shows returning in the fall, and to our surprise, 911: Nashville isn't coming when we expected. It's actually premiering a little later than anticipated.
The network has slated the upcoming procedural drama series to debut on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT. It airs after the return of the flagship series 911 at 8/7c. We had already knew that both series would be premiering on the same day. However, we had thought that they'd be given a release sometime in September, since that's when 911 usually kicks off its seasons in the fall.
It looks like ABC chose to switch things up this time around, pushing the premiere into mid-October to perhaps better position the new spinoff alongside its established hit. Whatever the reason is, we're looking forward to seeing how 911: Nashville brings fresh stories and new characters to the beloved franchise.
911: Nashville serves as the second spinoff in the 911 franchise. 911: Lone Star was the first, airing on Fox from 2020 to 2025 for five seasons. The new spinoff comes from Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, and Rashad Raisani, and takes place in Nashville, Tennessee, where we follow the personal and professional lives of the city’s first responders.
The procedural drama primarily centers on Don Sharpe, a fire captain and rodeo rider who leads a firehouse in Nashville alongside his son. Chris O'Donnell (NCIS: Los Angeles) takes on this leading role, along with Grey's Anatomy's star Jessica Capshaw playing his on-screen wife, Blythe Ward.
Joining these two talented actors in the cast are LeAnn Rimes, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Hailey Kilgore, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, and Hunter McVey. Production officially started on the new series in June 2025. To mark the occasion, several cast members took a group photo that was shared on the 911: Nashville Instagram account. Now that we have an official premiere date, all that is left to do is count down the days.
While waiting for its release, we recommend watching or rewatching some of the other ABC shows confirmed to return in the fall. Dancing with the Stars season 34 and High Potential season 2 are set to premiere on ABC on Sept. 16. Shifting Gears season 2 and Abbott Elementary season 5 will air on Oct. 1, and Grey's Anatomy season 22 on Oct. 16.
