911: Nashville UK return update leaves fans disappointed

911: Nashville season 1 episode 7 hasn't arrived on Disney Plus in the UK yet, meaning that fans' hopes for a morning-after debut are dashed.

It's safe to say that 911: Nashville is one of the biggest new TV hits of the season. Premiering with a vengeance on ABC in the US back in October, it was paired with parent series 911 on Thursday nights which - along with Grey's Anatomy - made the network's trademark TGIT Thursdays a stacked night of entertainment for another year running.

The spinoff stars Chris O'Donnell as 113 fire captain Don Hart, Jessica Capshaw as his wife Blythe, and Michael Provost as firefighter lieutenant - and their son - Ryan. The firehouse is turned upside down when newcomer Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey) arrives and reveals that he is Don's son, bringing his own mother Dixie (LeAnn Rimes) back into their lives, too.

But the show hasn't just been a big hit in the US, as it's amassed a devoted audience internationally on Disney Plus. Although it has just returned for domestic viewers, those in the UK might still have a bit of a while to wait.

911: Nashville will continue to stream delayed on Disney Plus; no definitive return date for episode 7

Unfortunately, 911: Nashville won't be airing new episodes on Disney Plus UK the day after their domestic premieres in the US. While the show didn't do that in the fall, it was a surprise to viewers, who were used to receiving new episodes of ABC shows on the streaming service the morning after their US debuts, but they held out hope that the situation might revert back to the way that it once was for the 911 shows when they staged their midseason returns. That has not been the case.

The Nashville-set 911 spinoff returned to US TV screens (along with the mothership series) on Thursday, January 9, so fans in the UK were hoping that Disney Plus might release the episode on Friday, January 10. But that ultimately wasn't the case, and the next episodes of either show didn't materialize the next week either.

The new release format is a little baffling for longtime ABC show fans, as the likes of Grey's Anatomy and High Potential continue to have their new episodes released in the UK on the very next morning. 911 had the same treatment during its eighth season, but this time around, it's delayed along with 911: Nashville. In the fall season, both shows had their new episodes premiere on the streaming service in the UK 13 days after their initial airing in the US, so fans are holding out hope that - at the very least - this will remain intact.

Taking that into account, it's possible that 911: Nashville episode 7, titled "You've Been Boarded" could arrive on Disney Plus UK on Wednesday, January 21. If we go on the previous release schedule that the show has had, then it should be available to stream on that date. But with no official confirmation from the Disney Plus UK listings, there could be an as-of-yet unannounced delay. We certainly hope that's not the case.

Either way, it's clear that 911: Nashville won't be streaming new episodes in the UK on the day after their US premieres, and that's a shame. We just hope that it at least manages to maintain the previous release format that it had throughout the first six episodes because it clearly resonated with audiences, who regularly ensured that the freshman series made its way to the top of the streamer's daily charts.

It's true: Fans just can't get enough of the Harts!
