7 CBS shows came to an end in 2025 (was your favorite among them?)

“The Kill Floor” – A member of the Fly Team goes missing as the hunt for Greg Csonka continues in Paris. Meanwhile, Vo’s life hangs in the balance after being shot, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Jan. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. There were some massive cancellations in 2025, and CBS had a fair few of them. Some of the shows that ended didn’t opt for wrapping up the storylines, despite enough of a warning to tweak the final episodes, and now we’re salty that we won’t get more.

It wasn’t just about the scripted shows, either. CBS opted to cancel a reality program after just one season, and a late-night show came to an end — although there were other circumstances behind that one. It still counts as an ended show on CBS in 2025. Let’s take a look at the cancellations and endings.

By the way, you’ll notice that Blue Bloods isn’t on the list. That’s because it ended in 2024, although it is on the list of a long of 2024–2025 schedules, because that’s the TV season the final episodes aired in. It just doesn’t count as a show that ended in 2025.

They Paid More
“They Paid More” – When a bus full of American volunteers is hijacked in a dangerous section of Morocco, the Fly Team works to locate the missing aid workers and the people who kidnapped them, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Dec. 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). FBI: International

Out of all the cancellations, the one that hurts the most is FBI: International. It, along with Most Wanted, was canceled to allow for CBS to add a new FBI spinoff, CIA. The other two spinoffs were proving costly, and they weren’t keeping hold of their original characters. International had just two original characters by the end of its four-season run.

Despite the show getting enough time to tweak its final episode to be a good series finale, it didn’t opt for that. Instead, we were left with a cliffhanger, waiting to find out whether Vo or Raines would get the promotion, leaving the Fly Team. It left everything on a salty note, especially considering CIA had production issues that pushed it into 2026.

The Circle Game
“The Circle Game” - The Fugitive Task Force hunts down a rogue government operative group that is planning a domestic terror attack. Also, the team prepares for big changes, on the series finale of FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, May 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). FBI: Most Wanted

The other ended FBI series was FBI: Most Wanted. It was canceled at the same time as International, and this series took the chance to wrap up some storylines. So, while we’re sad about the cancellation, we’re not as salty about it.

The series brought closure to all the characters, with a retirement, a promotion, and some happy futures for each of the characters. With some hope, we’ll see Nina Chase return on FBI in some sort of capacity to give us an update about her Fugitive Task Force team members.

Open Season
“Open Season” – 20-Squad must race to uncover a dangerous enemy intent on revenge. Also, Deacon and Tan butt heads over Tan’s changes to SWAT academy, on S.W.A.T., Friday, Jan. 31 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+. Series star Jay Harrington directs. Pictured (L-R): Patrick St. Esprit as Commander Robert Hicks, Shemar Moore as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson and Jay Harrington as David "Deacon" Kay. SWAT

After being canceled and revived twice, SWAT ended up being canceled after its eighth season. There was no coming back from this one despite a fight, although there is a spinoff in the works — the spinoff doesn’t have a network yet!

The series ended with an element of closure. 20-Squad was still close-knit, despite the possibility of Devin leaving after the events with her brother. It isn’t clear how things will change to set up the spinoff, making the series finale feel a little less poignant, but we can wait and see.

Decisions
“Decisions” – While on a romantic getaway, McCall and Dante are abruptly ambushed by Salazar and his army. Meanwhile, Aunt Vi finally decides to take the next step in her relationship with Captain Curtis, and Dee meets with her favorite author who may be able to help her get into her dream university, on the fifth season finale of the CBS Original series THE EQUALIZER, Sunday, May 4 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for

The Equalizer

It looks like CBS was cleaning house with its procedurals. The Equalizer came to an end after five seasons, and it is another one of those cancellations that left some salty feelings. While there was some closure and hope for the future at the end, it was clear that this series deserved a real final season — and that’s what Sony was trying to negotiate, even just for a half season.

In the end, we had to say goodbye to Queen Latifah getting justice. The linear ratings had dipped too much, and the cost of the series was too high. But at least it didn’t end with a cliffhanger!

Pilot
Damon Wayans stars as “Poppa,” a legendary talk radio host who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host, Ivy (Essence Atkins), is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son, Damon (Damon Wayans Jr.), a brilliant dreamer trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband to his wife, Nina (Tetona Jackson) in POPPA’S HOUSE, premiering in the 2023-2024 season on the CBS Television Network and available to stream live and

Poppa’s House

There was just one comedy cancellation in 2025, and it was the newer comedy on the network, Poppa’s House. The decision wasn’t all that surprising considering it was the comedy with the lowest linear ratings, but at times, it just felt like this show didn’t get the promotion that it deserved.

CBS did try to keep it on the air. The request was to trim the budget, but there wasn’t a way to do that. So, in the end, CBS opted to cancel Poppa’s House and pick up the new comedy DMV. It was sad to see the series go, especially since we got to see Damon Wayans and his son, Damon Wayans Jr., working together.

The Snowline
“The Snowline” – Tensions rise among a trusted alliance following an argument regarding the checkpoint vote before the group sets out to reach the snowline. After crossing a frigid alpine lake by kayak, the trekkers must pass a massive chasm using a gravity line to get to the next camp. However, their journey comes with an ominous warning from the Mountain’s Keeper … Should any of them fall, they will face consequences at the next vote, on THE SUMMIT, Wednesday, Nov. 13 (9:30-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on

The Summit

Despite the love for reality shows, especially those that put everyday people into tough situations, The Summit just didn’t find its audience. The adventure reality program followed 16 strangers on a journey though the New Zealand Alps with backpacks containing an equal share of $1m. They had to work together to get to the end, but of course, not everyone would get there.

With a time limit to get to the summit (or all prize money would be lost), this adventure program added something slightly different to the likes of Survivor and The Amazing Race. There was this force for everyone to work together, dealing with tantrums, fears, and struggles. Yet, the show ended up not getting the viewership needed, and it was canceled after just one season.

After Midnight

The final cancellation on the list wasn’t actually a cancellation. I’m sure you thought The Late Show would be the late night show on this list, but it hasn’t come to an end in 2025. There will be episodes through to May 2026. Instead, it’s all about After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson.

It was a mixture of late night show and comedy game show, and it had originally been renewed for a third season. However, Tomlinson decided that she didn’t want to continue with it anymore. Her love is stand-up comedy, and that’s what she wanted to continue to pursue. Who can blame her for wanting to do something she loves? In the end, CBS ended After Midnight rather than finding a new host.
