Another week is here, and that means more shows on broadcast TV. We’re closing in on CBS Premiere Week, with things officially kicking off on Sunday, Oct. 12. So, what can you watch and what should you skip on broadcast this week?
From Oct. 6 to Oct. 12, there are some great TV shows. We have continued episodes of all our favorite shows, but there are also still some reruns throughout. ABC also has premieres to look forward to, making sure there’s plenty for everyone.
Of course, with the skip suggestions, we don’t think you shouldn’t watch at all. As usual, these are shows to skip live and watch on streaming the following day.

What to skip: Watson
The first show to skip on the list is the rerun of Watson this week. We’re getting closer to the premiere, so don’t overlook this show for too long. However, all episodes of the first season are on Paramount+ to binge-watch.
I’d spend this weekend binge-watching the episodes. After all, you’ll need to catch up with what Moriarty was up to before Sherlock Holmes appears!
What to watch: On Brand with Jimmy Fallon
For the reality show fans out there, NBC has a new series. On Brand with Jimmy Fallon puts marketing hopefuls against each other as they compete for money and a job. This is unlike others, as the hopeful have to create real marketing campaigns that are then put out into the world.
There are two episodes per week, giving us a chance to see the marketing hopefuls show off their skills individually and as part of a team. Then at the end of the two episodes, one person is eliminated, and it’s not easy when you start forming friendships.
On Brand with Jimmy Fallon airs on Tuesday at 10/9c and Friday at 8/7c on NBC.
What to watch: Chicago Fire
Next up is another NBC series. The entire One Chicago franchise is back, and the middle block is all about Chicago Fire. At the end of the season 14 premiere, Ritter rushed to New York, where Dwayne was in the hospital after being shot. It looks like he’ll pull through, and it’s clear that this is Ritter’s exit storyline.
Now it’s time to see how that exit storyline plays out. I’m sure it’s going to happen in this second episode, so take the time to watch live to say goodbye to one of the best firefighters at 51.
Chicago Fire airs on Wednesday at 9/8c on NBC.
What to watch: 911
TGIT is back. Okay, it’s not the TGIT we once knew, but I still view it as TGIT. The 911 season 9 premiere is here, and it’s time to catch up with where the 118 is. After all, we’re sure that Chimney is going to be the new Captain, bringing the family back together in their grief.
This episode is also set to kickstart the meteor storyline. It’s sure to come up at the end of the premiere, pushing us into the second hour next week!
911 airs on Thursday at 8/7c on ABC.
What to watch: 911: Nashville
Stick with ABC throughout the night, as it’s premiere week for TGIT. 911: Nashville is the newest show in the franchise, and this one is going to be much soapier than the others. After all, it turns out that Ryan and Blue are half-brothers—because we hadn’t guessed that at all!
The series brings firefighting and music together. Oh, and there’s a bit of stripping! Get ready for drama and crazy saves once more.
911: Nashville airs on Thursday at 9/8c on ABC.
What to watch: Grey’s Anatomy
Rounding out Thursday night is the Grey’s Anatomy season 22 premiere. This is a big one, so you cannot afford to miss it. The episode picks up off the back of the explosive season 21 finale. We’ll get to find out who makes it through, and who doesn’t.
There are plenty of theories right now, with most people expecting Link to die. I think it’s a little too obvious, but not everyone can make it out of that explosion alive, right?
Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursday at 10/9c on ABC.
What to skip: Elsbeth (rerun)
No, I’m not saying skip the Elsbeth season 3 premiere on Sunday. I’m talking about the rerun that will air on Thursday night. That’s the show to skip for now, as like with Watson, the entire second season (and the first!) is on Paramount+ to binge-watch.
You don’t have long to get through the episodes as you do with Watson, but it’s worth taking the time over Friday and Saturday to catch up.
What to watch: Matlock
It’s all about CBS Premiere Week starting on Sunday! Matlock kicks things off with its season 2 premiere, and we’re ready to see why Olympia chooses Julian over the right thing to do. I don’t think it’s that surprising that Olympia chooses Julian, and I think that’s more to do with her children more than anything else.
Meanwhile, Matty has her own personal situation to deal with. Alfie’s potential biological dad showed up at the end of the first season, and now there could be a custody fight on their hands.
Matlock premieres on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on CBS before moving to Thursdays.
What to skip: Haunted Mansion
Look, I’m all for family movie night on Sundays (if you’re not a football house). ABC has been great with putting movies on throughout the summer, but the one thing that annoys me is the ad breaks. Why settle for them when you can watch without them?
Haunted Mansion is a great movie (even the reboot), but you don’t need to watch it on the air. It’s on Disney+, and that’s where you should watch it this weekend.
