For fans of crime dramas, Will Trent has always stood out as one of the most compelling and intelligent shows on television. From the very first episode, it became clear that this series wasn’t just another procedural. It’s a show that combines the tension of a classic detective story with the emotional depth and complexity of a character-driven drama.

That's why Will Trent has been so successful. Debuting on ABC in 2023, the series quickly captured the attention of viewers with its gripping plot and layered characters. Fans have loved every new installment so far, and with the highly anticipated fourth season on the way, excitement has reached an all-time high.

For the longest time, we did not know when Will Trent season 4 would premiere. All that we had was a premiere window. Back in May 2025, ABC confirmed an early 2026 release for the fourth season. However, this could've put the Will Trent season 4 air start date anywhere in the first few months of 2026.

Our initial prediction was that the fourth installment would begin airing on ABC sometime in January of next year. Why? Well, two previous seasons of the show had premiered in this month. Those seasons were seasons 1 and 3. However, there was also a possibility that the fourth season could premiere sometime in February 2026. That's the same month the second season came out. Now, we have the official premiere date!

Will Trent season 4 is set to premiere on ABC in January 2026

It looks like our original prediction wasn't wrong. Will Trent season 4 is really premiering in January 2026. The exact premiere date is Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026. ABC revealed these juicy deets in a new press release announcing its 2026 midseason schedule. The fourth season will start airing on ABC at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT on Jan. 6.

Those who watched the previous season know that this is the same time slot. Following the season 4 premiere, you can expect a new episode to air every Tuesday night at the same time. Also airing on this night are High Potential season 2 and The Rookie season 8. A new episode of High Potential season 2 will air right after Will Trent season 4 at 9/8c. Then, The Rookie season 8 will round out the night at 10/9c

To get fans even more pumped up for Will Trent season 4's upcoming premiere, ABC dropped a 30-second trailer. We shared it via TVLine down below.

Based on the trailer, it looks like we'll be seeing GBI special agent Will Trent solve more cases this season. However, that was pretty much a given since that's what the show is about. But if you noticed, two major characters are missing from the trailer. They are Amanda Wagner and Michael Ormewood. If you recall from the season 3 finale, both of these characters' fates were left up in the air.

The fourth season will likely pick up right after the shocking events of the previous season, and we'll get to find out if they're okay. Both Amanda and Michael are important to Will, especially Amanda, who is like a mother figure to him. So, she must pull through after being shot during a domestic terrorism attack last season. If not, Will will be absolutely heartbroken.

Additionally, Michael had a seizure at home due to a brain tumor in the season 3 finale. However, it would be weird if he didn't survive since he's like the main character who brings the comic relief. But we'll just have to wait until the Will Trent season 4 premiere to see how everything unfolds.
