In the modern media landscape, it seems like successful sitcoms have become a relative rarity. Instead, there is a lot more discussion about popular series that aren't known for making viewers laugh, like Stranger Things, The Pitt, MobLand, and many more. While all of those shows are wonderful in their own ways, TV viewers will always need something fun to laugh at.
Fortunately, St. Denis Medical is set to return for its second season. While the first season of the show was a pretty big success, I still believe that the show should have gotten a lot more attention and been watched by many more people. With the sitcom set to return on November 3, there are several reasons why every sitcom fan should be watching.

Why sitcom fans should love St. Denis Medical
The team behind St. Denis Medical deserves to be proud of the show they've created for several reasons. Easily one of the best parts of the medical comedy series is how many great actors the show has cast. Between bringing together comedy legends, relative newcomers, and a dramatic acting powerhouse, the series doesn't have any weak links.
In terms of comedy legends, it is hard to think of many actors who deserve that title as much as David Alan Grier does. Able to make viewers laugh with nothing more than a well-placed glance, David's comedic timing and confidence makes him hilarious at every turn. Similarly, Wendi McLendon-Covey is a fearless comedic actor whose passion and reckless abandon have allowed her to make viewers guffaw for many, many years now.
While Josh Lawson, Mekki Leeper, Kahyun Kim, and Kaliko Kauahi are relative newcomers, all of them have proven themselves during St. Denis Medical season 1 and in their other roles. The show also features Dave Theune in a supporting role as Keith, an often-mocked nurse who is absolutely hysterical in every scene he is part of.
St. Denis Medical's producers were also smart enough to cast Allison Tolman as the show's heart, the supervising nurse Alex. While Alison isn't known for her comedy chops, she is one of the best dramatic actors of her generation, and the emotion she brings to St. Denis Medical is extremely valuable. It also has to be noted that Alison's overall acting skills often allow her to elicit laughs.
Of course, a cast that talented needs compelling storylines to make their efforts worth it. Thankfully, St. Denis Medical season 1 featured a series of storylines that made the most of their talents. The best example of that was the will they or won't they relationship between Matt and Val. While that dynamic has come up so often during sitcom history that viewers can become tired of it, this show created a will they or won't they relationship that feels fresh. That alone is reason enough that it is a shame that St. Denis Medical flew under the radar during its first season.
