We're about to get the 911: Nashville and Virgin River crossover we didn't know we needed. Well, don't get too excited. It's not an actual crossover with characters from the shows interacting. (Could you imagine if the Netflix romantic drama was in the 911 universe?) But one of our favorite stars from Virgin River will be heading down to Nashville to ruffle some feathers with the 113.
In 911: Nashville season 1 episode 6, titled "Good Southern Manors," which airs on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 9/8c on ABC, we will finally meet Virgin River star Tim Matheson's recurring character Edward Raleigh. Matheson, who also starred in The CW's Hart of Dixie and NBC's The West Wing among other film and television roles, was first announced as a recurring star this summer.

According to Deadline, Matheson's character Edward is described as "Southern old money and utterly ruthless." Based on the first-look photos from the new episode, Edward will be interacting with Don (Chris O'Donnell), as they are seen having a drink together at a fancy bar and what seems like a friendly but still somewhat tense conversation.
Other photos from the episode reveal Edward sitting with Don and Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) as Blythe holds his hand. It seems like Edward will be stirring up some trouble in some form or another for the Hart family, and we can predict that this trouble will fall on Don's shoulders. How does this new character come into their lives, and how are their stories connected?
ABC shared the synopsis for Matheson's debut episode of 911: Nashville: "As Don, Blue, and Ryan take extreme measures to prevent a distillery explosion, the 9-1-1 call center is disrupted by budget cuts and hackers. Amidst the chaos, Blythe faces an emergency of her own."

Since he's described as old money and ruthless, could Edward be the owner of the distillery that Don, Blue (Hunter McVey), and Ryan (Michael Provost) work to prevent from exploding? If he's not related to that particular storyline, does Edward have anything to do with Blythe's emergency? Maybe Edward's her father. After all, Blythe does come from money.
Even though Matheson will appear in ABC's new hit 911 spinoff in a recurring role, Virgin River fans don't have to worry about not seeing Doc in the upcoming new seasons of the Netflix favorite. Matheson will be back as his lovably gruff character Doc in season 7, which is presumed to premiere in early 2026, and is expected to also return for the already renewed season 8.
But it's still exciting that television worlds will be colliding like this! We haven't really seen Matheson play a character like Edward in recent years on the small screen. Before playing Doc on Virgin River, he played a similar small-town physician who's a little rough around the edges in Hart of Dixie. We can't wait to see what he brings to 911: Nashville and who he clashes with on this show!
