One of the biggest hits of the fall television season has been the new 911 spinoff series. While some are still mourning the cancellation of 911: Lone Star, most of us have welcomed the franchise's second direct spinoff and its soapiest yet. 911: Nashville gave the franchise a real jolt of country fun that's going to be sticking around a lot longer this season.
Historically, networks will give new shows shorter episode orders than established series, which would be why some might be expecting 911: Nashville to have fewer episodes than 911 season 9. However, the new series will have a full-season order of 18 episodes to match its sire series and fellow ABC hit drama High Potential. There's even better news about the recent filming update.
911: Nashville star Hunter McVey spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about how he landed the role of Blue Bennings, a story that includes not having met his boss Ryan Murphy yet. But the debut actor also revealed some exciting news about the show's production schedule. After getting started filming before most fall shows, they're very nearly finished filming the first season!

"We have 18 episodes for the first season and we’ve filmed about 13 of them," McVey shared with The Hollywood Reporter. That's a major filming milestone to have already passed before the show has even entered its midseason break, and it's good news for fans.
911: Nashville began filming in June 2025, a couple months ahead of most shows getting back to work later on in July and August before premieres began in September and October. Based on this filming schedule, the spinoff's first season is expected to wrap by sometime in early 2026, probably again before most other shows have finished production for the season.
Even though the show will wrap production early, that doesn't mean that the season will end sooner. ABC still has both 911 shows poised to return after the holidays on Thursday, Jan. 8, and the seasons should run as normal through May 2026 with new episodes. The fact that there won't be, or at least shouldn't be, an early season finale is only part of the good news for fans.
Because the season will wrap production so far in advance, that will hopefully allow ABC to make a decision about a second season much sooner than if cameras were still rolling. Those choices are typically announced in May each year, though with the production ahead of pace, let's keep our fingers crossed that ABC will give the 911 franchise renewal news early, too.
911: Nashville airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC, streaming next day on Hulu.
