Who's ready to hear some exciting news? Fox has just announced its TV schedule and premiere dates for the 2025-2026 season, and one criminally underrated crime drama series is set to return for its second installment. Murder in a Small Town season 2 will begin airing on the network this fall, and fans can expect to see detective Karl Alberg investigate and solve more chilling mysteries in the beautiful coastal town of Gibsons, British Columbia.

According to Deadline, the crime drama's second season will premiere on Fox on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. CT. The second season of the hit medical drama Doc will then premiere right after Murder in a Small Town season 2 at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT.

That said, you may want to catch up on the first season of both shows if you haven't already done so before the new episodes start airing. September might seem far away, but the days are flying by faster than you think. Even if you have already watched Murder in a Small Town season 1 and Doc season 1, revisiting the episodes is a great way to refresh your memory and catch any details you might have missed. That way, you'll be fully ready to jump back in once the second seasons of each show begin airing on Fox.

Ian Weir (Artic Air, Edgemont) created Murder in a Small Town. It's a Canadian show that's based on the series of crime novels called the Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries by author L.R. Wright. The show's plot centers on Karl Alberg, a former Minneapolis detective who moves to a quiet coastal town in British Columbia, seeking a peaceful new start. However, his hopes for tranquility are shattered when a series of mysterious murders rocks the community, forcing him to return to detective work.

The crime drama isn't only about Alberg solving complex murder cases. Alongside the crime and mystery aspects, the show explores the developing relationship between him and Cassandra Lee, the local librarian. Throughout the first season, viewers watch their bond deepen as they face challenges together. In Murder in a Small Town season 2, we can most likely expect to see even more obstacles get in their way, but also moments of tenderness. Rossif Sutherland (The Handmaid's Tale, Reign) will reprise his role as the lead character, Karl, while Kristin Kreuk (Reacher, Smallville) returns as Cassandra in season 2.

Hopefully, Fox drops a teaser trailer soon. If the network does, we'll most likely see it released closer to the second season's premiere date. Perhaps sometimes in August. Don't fret! We'll be sure to return and share it with you once it is available.
