Unfortunately, there has been some news about the upcoming Scrubs revival series that has been worrisome for the show's longtime fans. Worse yet, the teaser that was released for the upcoming series return seemed to confirm one of the reasons to be concerned about the show. However, The Scrubs revival premiering on ABC in 2026 absolutely should be one of the biggest television events of the year.
Given that Scrubs arguably is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, there are many aspects of the original show that fans desperately want to see brought back for the revival. Unsurprisingly, one of the most obvious topics of conversation about the revival has been which characters from the past should be brought back. While they have been overlooked, I think that there are three Scrubs characters that I believe need to be part of the revival for an extremely important reason.

Why I think the Worthless Peons need to return for the Scrubs revival
When it was announced that a Scrubs revival series was happening, there was a lot of excitement about the immense possibilities. After all, since the show's cast has been extremely open about remaining close friends, it seemed like they would all want to return. However, there is one aspect of Scrubs coming back that is extremely sad, Sam Lloyd can't be part of the return.
One of the most lovable Scrubs characters always was the hapless lawyer Ted Buckland. Played to perfection by Sam Lloyd, Ted was one of Scrubs' most memorable characters by far. As a result, Scrubs fans all over the world were deeply saddened when Lloyd passed away in May 2020 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor a year earlier.
Lloyd tragically passing away far too early in life obviously ensures he can't be part of the Scrubs revival. However, since Ted was such a big part of the original show, it would feel extremely wrong if the revival ignored him. In my opinion, the perfect way to pay tribute to Ted would be to have Philip McNiven, George Miserlis, and Paul F. Perry appear in at least one episode.
One of the best parts of Ted as a character was that he led an a capella group called The Worthless Peons. The other three members of the singing group, which was made up of employees from different sections of the hospital, were portrayed by McNiven, Miserlis, and Perry. Importantly, the three men were close with Lloyd outside the show since the four of them were also a real-life a capella singing group called The Blanks. Considering how closely McNiven, Miserlis, and Perry were to Lloyd the actor and Ted the character, having them appear and pay tribute to both could hit a perfect note.
On top of bringing back The Worthless Peons, the Scrubs revival could also have Kate Micucci appear alongside the trio. Micucci memorably portrayed Ted's girlfriend, the typically cheery ukulele player and singer, Stephanie "The Gooch" Gooch. Of course, the revival would probably want to ignore a moment from the sitcom Cougar Town that revealed The Gooch left Ted for Dr. Hooch.
