We’re back for another week of The Golden Bachelor, featuring Mel Owens. Episode 3 featured lots of female camaraderie, a fun one-on-one date, and a beachside photo shoot. Overall, it was a great episode!
The episode opened with Debbie, of Slim In Six fame, leading a fitness class for the women at the mansion. From that point on, I knew we were in for a treat of an episode. I love how close the women are this season! I do feel this episode could have used more Jesse Palmer, but alas.
Let’s get to the best and worst moments of episode 3!
Best moment: Peg’s one-on-one date
Early on in the episode, Mel invites Peg on a one-on-one date.
We knew Peg was a frontrunner this season, but this one-on-one really solidified her standing! The two of them end up at a carnival, and entertainment ensues.
I really enjoyed this one on one date. A carnival day is pretty par for the course with an early season one on one, but this one on one date stood out because of Peg and also her connection with Mel. We got to see Mel’s happy, fun side and one of the first times all season he actually looked like he was enjoying himself.
We also learn that not only was Peg and law-enforcement. She also taught for the FBI! She's a veritable Will Graham!
Peg also opens up to Mel about her divorce, which happened after her ex-husband cheated on her. But because Peg is a class act, she says she is better for it, and says everyone deserves to be happy!
If Peg doesn’t end up with Mel, I at least want to see more of her in this franchise. Let’s hope she stays out of any drama that might ensue.
Worst moment: People photo shoot
Mel takes his remaining women (minus Peg) on a group date to the beach, where they proceed to do a photo shoot with People Magazine.
While I did enjoy the throwback feel this gave the episode (a photo shoot for a magazine is one of the most classic Bachelor dates ever!), it’s just always so uncomfortable watching these types of dates. It was so incredibly awkward watching Mel kiss someone while other women stood idly by.
It didn’t even cause that much drama, which is basically what a group date is designed to do. Let's hope this is the only photo shoot of The Golden Bachelor Season 2!
