Cancellations are never easy, but they can sometimes feel like the right move, especially when a show gets the chance to end on its own terms, with a final season that honors its story and fans. Well, The CW just did exactly that, renewing a beloved series for one last hurrah, and honestly, we’re at peace with it.

The popular sports drama All American has officially been renewed for an eighth and final installment, giving longtime viewers a proper sendoff. This great news comes just a month after the season 7 finale aired, which left the show on a cliffhanger.

April Blair created All American. The first six seasons centered on Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), a talented high school football player whose world changes dramatically after moving from his rough South Los Angeles neighborhood to attend an affluent Beverly Hills school. There, he finds himself facing new obstacles, forming new relationships, and confronting rivalries, all while chasing his dreams. Season 7 saw many of the original cast members leaving, including Ezra, and introduced viewers to a new set of characters as the series shifted focus to a fresh generation of students at Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High.

Nowadays in the TV world, where abrupt cancellations are all too common, it’s refreshing to see a fan-favorite show get the chance to thoughtfully conclude its story. All American has consistently been one of The CW's highest-rated and most-streamed series, proving its lasting impact and strong connection with audiences. That makes it well-deserving of a final season that not only wraps up its compelling narrative but also honors the loyalty of its dedicated fans.

According to Deadline, the eighth season will consist of 13 episodes to finish the series. This is the same number of episodes the seventh season had, so luckily, we don't have to worry about a shorter episode count. That would have been disappointing, and honestly, it's hard to imagine how the writers would've been able to deliver a satisfying conclusion and tie up all the storylines with fewer episodes.

While the exact episode lengths haven’t been announced yet, it’s likely each episode will run around 40 minutes. This would be consistent with previous seasons. There's a chance the series finale could possibly be extended a bit longer to provide a fitting and memorable farewell for the fans, but nothing has been confirmed.

What we do know is that All American season 8 will reportedly begin airing on The CW sometime in 2026. 2026 might seem far away from now, but with how fast the current year is moving, it'll be next year before we know it. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too far into the new year to see the new episodes. We'll get back to you with the official premiere date as soon as it's announced.

Unfortunately, it's unknown who will be returning for the eighth season. However, with the show wrapping up, we're hopeful that some of the original cast members will come back to give their characters a proper goodbye. As more information becomes available about the highly anticipated All American season 8, we'll be sure to return to share it all. But for now, stay tuned to GeekSided!
