Strictly Come Dancing brought the iconic to its second-annual Icons Week, as the competition's remaining 11 couples took on some of the most legendary songs by some of the most legendary artists of all time. We had Cher Salsaing, Dolly Parton Foxtrotting, Beyoncé Quickstepping, and Ariana Grande Cha Cha Cha-ing their way across the dancefloor through the night in a week that certainly got UK audiences talking.
Lewis Cope and Katya Jones opened the night's proceedings with a Johnny Cash-inspired Quickstep that reached such a high standard that it remained the highest-scoring dance of the night. Meanwhile, George Clarke and Alexis Warr had an un characteristic lower score that placed them unexpectedly at the bottom of the Leaderboard.
While Icons Week was, on a whole, better than the first edition last year, it did receive come criticisms due to the way its themes often clashed with the style of dances each contestant was given (Harry and Karen's Usher-inspired Argentine Tango is the biggest example of that). It's all left things in a very interesting place as we head into the Sunday Night Results Show. Speaking of which, here's when you can expect it to begin.
Strictly Week 5 Results Show start time
Strictly Come Dancing's Week 5 / Icons Week Results Show will air on BBC One on Sunday, October 26, at 7:15 pm BST. Now, remember, the clocks have gone forward in the UK at this point in time, so that means it might feel like it's on later than in previous weeks, but it's actually the same time.
Like with all episodes of the Results Show it has a runtime of 45 minutes, meaning that it will wrap up at 8:00 pm BST. If you're hoping to know which contestants are in the Dance-Off at any point prior to the episode's final act, you'll be disappointed as the show's controversial new format means that both of the Bottom Two couples aren't revealed until the final 10 minutes. That leads to the Dance-Off and the Judges' decision being heavily edited together to ensure the episode finishes at the top of the hour.
What you can expect from tonight's Results Show
This has the ability to be the most interesting Results Show of the whole series. The judges' marking last night created three ties on the Leaderboard, with one of them being a four-way tie. That significantly shortened the amount of points between the high scorers and low scorers, giving an advantage to those at the bottom and a disdvantage to those at the top. As a result of that, the couples who danced best and are placed at the top are in more jeopardy this week as the public vote will carry more weight.
Of course, fans will be curious to see if George's position at the bottom of the Leaderboard has led to a surprise Dance-Off appearance for him, but all of the ties might have prevented that. Similarly, are Lewis, Amber, Vicky, and Alex truly safe in the top end of the Leaderboard with the public vote carrying so much power this week?
Meanwhile, there will be a special Britney Spears-inspired group routine from the professional dancers and Rachel Zegler will be stopping by the ballroom for a special, iconic performance.
Although there has been some confusion about whether Halloween Week would be happening this year (as Week 6 takes place on the Saturday after Halloween), it does indeed appear to be going ahead. With that, the couples that make it through tonight will be swapping their iconic wigs for the more spooky ones. And we can't wait for that!
