We tend to expect crossover moments when there’s a franchise. Sometimes, these are just small cameo appearances, and sometimes, they’re big two-part or three-part crossover events. With Sheriff Country, there was the fear that we wouldn’t get this.
You see, Sheriff Country and Fire Country don’t film in the same place. Due to Morena Baccarin’s life in New York, a trip to Vancouver for work on a regular basis was out of the question. So, filming for Sheriff Country was moved to Toronto, while Fire Country remained in Vancouver.
This is despite the two shows being set in the same town. Well, it turns out that the shows aren’t allowing filming locations stop them from doing something that just makes sense to the story.

A Sheriff Country/Fire Country crossover moment is happening
The Sheriff Country premiere is going to have a crossover moment with Bode coming to see his aunt. This is a small thing, although I have to admit that I was surprised it was going to be Bode and not Sharon coming to see her sister after Vince’s death.
Well, it won’t be long before Sharon comes to see Mickey, but it’s not for the reason expected. In Sheriff Country episode 2, we’ll get to see the sisters together, but Sharon is there for her niece instead. The synopsis for the episode tells us that Mickey’s daughter is caught up in an investigation, and Sharon is going to be there to help support the young woman.
"Mickey’s personal and professional lines blur as she investigates a harrowing missing persons case all while trying to protect her daughter, whose connection to a crime scene raises unsettling questions. Meanwhile, Mickey’s sister, arrives to support her niece during this deeply emotional time."
Skye has a history of drug abuse, and when we met Mickey in Fire Country season 2, we learned that Skye was in rehab for that. There’s a chance that everyone worries that Skye will relapse with the stress of the case, and that means she needs as much family support as possible.

There’s another Fire Country connection in Sheriff Country episode 2
The second episode offers more than this small crossover moment. There’s a Fire Country connection behind the scenes. Kevin Alejandro, who plays Manny Perez in the flagship series, will step behind the camera and direct Sheriff Country episode 2.
This is sure to be something that we can expect to see more often. A lot of actors are now starting to take steps behind the camera as they look at continuing their role in the ever-changing world of Hollywood. It’s always good fun to see these episodes as well, as it’s rare for a director to have such a connection to the characters.
We don’t have to wait long for this episode, either. It will air on Friday, Oct. 24 on CBS.
Sheriff Country will premiere on Friday, Oct. 17 at 9/8c on CBS before moving to the 8/7c timeslot the following week.
