Out of all the networks, ABC delivered the fewest cancellations in 2025. One of those cancellations was a known ending, and the other technically hasn’t been canceled — but it has ended by default.
As we close in on the end of the year, it’s a good chance to look back at the shows we’ve said goodbye to. ABC still has some excellent shows to watch, whether you want quirky crime dramas, a medical drama, or a beloved comedy. The great thing about the Disney-owned network is that you can rewatch everything on Hulu, as that’s also owned by Disney.
So, let’s reminisce at the canceled and ended shows of 2025 on ABC. It’s really not that long.
The Conners
After the Roseanne revival was canceled after a season due to the titular lead’s racist comments on social media, ABC found a way to make it work without her. We got The Conners, which ran for seven seasons, ending in 2025 with a shortened but worthy final season. This was one of those shows that was given the chance to end, which was necessary considering the loyal fanbase.
The decision to end the series wasn’t all that surprising, as ABC had been cutting out comedies considerably up to this point. At the same time, the cast’s wages were considerably high compared to the audience that the show was pulling in.
The Conners season 7 ended up being just six episodes, and it took a little longer than we’d like to get those six episodes. However, it was all worth the wait, with a poignant goodbye from John Goodman, making it clear that this was the end.

Doctor Odyssey
Now for the show that technically wasn’t canceled. ABC just never made a final decision on the Ryan Murphy series after it came to an end in May 2025. With cast options expiring in June 2025, it was clear that the show wasn’t going to come back. At least, not in the way that it was envisioned during the first season.
The benefit of a show like Doctor Odyssey is that it could return with a new cast. After all, cruise doctors leave, and the title of the series wasn’t that of Joshua Jackson’s character but just the fact that he was the doctor on the cruise ship called Odyssey.
The series itself struggled to find its audience, and the theories of a fever dream and some of the wild storylines probably didn’t help with that. However, there’s still a form of hope that it could return in some sort of way, just probably not with the season 1 cast.
