There are some interesting new characters in 911: Nashville.

When it comes to 911: Nashville, there’s little we know about the series so far. As we close in on the series premiere date, we’re finally getting to know a little more about the firefighters and paramedics who will make up the 113.

Firehouse 113 will be led by Captain Don Hart (Chris O’Donnell), and he’s joined by his son Ryan (Michael Provost). While Ryan loves being a firefighter, others in his life expected him to go into the other family business, horse riding. His mom, Blythe (Jessica Capshaw), comes from generations of horse riders and is well-known in town for that.

We’ve known about the three from the beginning of ABC announcing 911: Nashville, but we didn’t know anything else about those who would make up the 113. Now we have more details, and this is certainly more of a rag-tag bunch of firefighters than the 126 in 911: Lone Star were!

Meet the firefighters of 911: Nashville

One of the standout firefighters is going to be Blue Bennings (Hunter McVey), who is the son of LeAnn Rimes’ Dixie Bennings. He is a stripper, but that doesn’t mean he wants to stick with that all his life. He wants to go into the world of firefighting, and his arrival at the 113 will change everything.

Sure enough, he’s the newbie, and there are plenty of theories circulating around that Ryan and Blue are half-brothers via Don. Don has a history with Dixie, but whether he fathered a child with her or not is up for debate right now. As 911: Nashville is set to be soapier than the flagship and Lone Star, this would make sense.

Then there’s an aspiring singer, which makes a lot of sense for a series set in Nashville. This city is filled with hopefuls, as was shown in the TV series Nashville. Hailey Kilgore will take on that role as Taylor Thomspon, and since she’s already an amazing talent with a guitar, she will use those skills in the series. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all she focuses on is singing and music, but we’re could see some downtime or use this as a bonding moment.

Showrunner Rashad Raisani told TV Insider:

“Of course, since we’re in Nashville, we need a character who can sing and play guitar. So, [Thompson is] an aspiring musician with incredible talent who will work musically into some of our episodes and give us that part of the show.”

The paramedic captain is a former surgeon

Like the other 911 shows, there needs to be a paramedic team. In 911: Nashville, that will be led by Roxie Alba, played by Juani Feliz. However, this paramedic captain has experience in another part of medicine.

She used to be a surgeon, and she’s decided to leave that life behind and focus on saving lives in the field. This is the opposite of Hen’s storyline in 911, who ended up going to med school but didn’t end up becoming a doctor and was stuck with being a paramedic. We’ll get to learn why Roxie stepped away from the prestige and pay of being a surgeon. Was it the need for a change of pace, or something more sinister?

911: Nashville will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 9/8c on ABC.
