In a world of arguably too many streamers, things are about to get a little earlier for those who want to see a few Paramount+ shows. Netflix is licensing 20 of them, and one of them is a Taylor Sheridan show.

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos shared that the shows in the new licensing deal are ones that Netflix has never had access to around the world. At first, the shows will be added to Netflix U.S., but there are talks of the deal being expanded to international locations, according to Deadline.

It is worth noting that some international locations already have access to some of the Paramount+ shows. In 2025, Netflix Canada added 1883, the first season of 1923, and the first four seasons of Yellowstone, leading to people then getting Paramount+ to finish watching the shows. However, it’s the first time outside of Yellowstone airing on Peacock that a Taylor Sheridan show has gone to another streamer in the U.S., according to Deadline.

Which Taylor Sheridan show will head to Netflix in 2026?

Netflix is picking up Mayor of Kingstown, which is an interesting move. The series has recently been renewed for a fifth and final season by Paramount+. The ratings weren’t as strong as they have been for other Sheridan shows on the streamer, and that is considered the reason for the cancellation. Is it possible that a fresh set of eyes via Netflix will help to boost the ratings to save the show?

This is a licensing deal, and not an exclusive move. Mayor of Kingstown will still stream on Paramount+. It’s also not clear, at this point, how many seasons of the series will head to Netflix. If it’s anything like the deal in Canada, it’s likely to be the first three seasons to keep one season exclusive to Paramount+. This is similar to the licensing deal with STARZ for Outlander.

Other Paramount shows are also heading to Netflix

Mayor of Kingstown is just one of the mentioned shows. Viewers will also get a chance to watch the likes of Matlock and SEAL Team on Netflix for the first time ever.

Matlock currently airs on Thursdays on CBS and it streams on Paramount+ the following day. Kathy Bates plays the lawyer, but it’s not quite a reboot of the classic. Instead, in this series, the real Matlock has aired, and Bates’ character has taken on the name to help hide her real identity for her own motives. This move could help to boost the already-successful series for CBS, helping to secure a third season as renewal and cancellation season rolls around.

The full list of 20 Paramount shows hasn’t been confirmed just yet. There is a lot of hope that shows like FROM and Yellowstone will be added to the mix, but it could also be the Paramount-owned CBS shows to help boost the viewership there.
