Work on Matlock season 2 is coming along nicely! We've gotten a major filming update thanks to one of the stars of the CBS hit drama. And it's one us fans have certainly been waiting for. It's quite a relief!

Filming for Matlock season 2 has officially started, as shared by main cast member Skye P. Marshall who plays fan-favorite and ambitious Olympia in the legal drama. The actress is as excited as we are about the news. She posted the update on her Instagram sporting her character's bob haircut, as well as a number of pictures and videos marking the first day of production for the second season. Check out the post below.

This is great news as we already know when the next chapter of the entertaining series is set to arrive. The Kathy Bates-led show returns to our screens on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS. However after the season 2 premiere, the drama is going back to its regular Thursday time slot starting from the second episode, and beyond. So be sure you don't get mixed up and miss it!

The amazing updates for the production just keep on coming with the Emmys 2025 nominations also announced today. What's absolutely amazing is that Bates has been nominated for her role as the titular character has received a Best Actress in a Drama series nom. She's become the oldest actress in the category, plus it's the first time a lead female from a broadcast show has been nominated at the Emmy Awards in the category since 2019.

You know in the last few years, broadcast TV has kind of gone down and has been a bit overshadowed by streaming. I'll be honest, the networks needed some fresh ideas. Thankfully last year, they upped their game with shows like Matlock, High Potential on ABC, and more. I love that Bates is getting the attention she deserves for her role as Madeline "Matty" Matlock / Madeline Kingston. She definitely deserves it!

I also can't wait to see what she, Marshall, and the writers bring our way in Matlock season 2! I'm sure there's plenty more drama and twists and turns to come at Jacobson Moore, and we're so here for it. Get ready, because fall 2025 of broadcast television is not too far away. And it's going to be wonderful!

Matlock season 2 premieres Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025 on CBS before moving to its regular Thursday time slot.
